
Terrill L. (Terry) Kohlmann - Born in Flint on April 10, 1944 to Keith and Vuriel Kohlmann, died peacefully on September 6, 2014 with family by his side, and became a donor to Michigan Gift of Life. On September 12, 1964 Terry married Ellin Topham at Court Street United Methodist Church, and in 1965 he joined the Flint Fire Department as the first 3rd generation to serve the city. In 1968 he received the first Firefighter on the Month award from the Flint firefighters. In 1996 Terry organized a Bone Marrow drive, which at that time was the largest drive in the history of Genesee County Red Cross, and was honored at the 1996 Flint Fire Department awards ceremony. Terry had many injuries during his career and after surviving an electrocution at a restaurant fire, he retired in 1988 as Captain/training officer and joined URGE Local 1. After retirement he gave his time to the church as maintenance supervisor and serving on several committees. A lover of hunting and fishing, he organized THE FLINT RIVER FRONTLOADERS hunting club. Surviving are his wife Ellin, daughter, Sherrill (Dan) Irish, son, Scott, and grandchildren, Kyle, Ethan, and Jenifer; siblings, Carol (Wayne) Sherman, Karla (Bryan) Black, Kenneth (Barbara) Kohlmann, brother-in-law, Larry (Carol) Topham, many nieces and nephews, special friend, Michael Mooney. He was preceded in death by parents, Keith and Vuriel Kohlmann, in-laws, Harley and Mary Louise Topham. The biggest love of Terry’s life was his family and helping others, and he will be deeply missed by many. Friends may visit the family from 2 to 4 and 5 to 8 p.m. Thursday at Reigle Funeral Home. The Funeral Service will be 11 a.m. Friday, September 12, 2014 at Court Street United Methodist Church, 225 W. Court St., Flint, MI. Reverend Robert Wright will officiate.
