Dean Alice Rigas would smile if she knew how often we speak of her and her work. We miss her... We miss her thoughts and perspectives.  We miss all the gifts she gave so generously to Columbia University.

Thank you to those of you who've signed this guest book about my beloved mother.  I find it remarkable to still see and hear firsthand how much of a positive impact she's made on so many in the communities in which she served.  Yet, I am not surprised.

A wife, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, friend, and long-serving administrator and dean at Columbia Law School, Mom was a brilliant, loving, humble woman, who left an extraordinary legacy amongst her family, friends, and colleagues.

Thank you, Mama, for giving me this life, and for loving me so much. You will forever be missed, appreciated, adored.

Dean Rigas was one of the very few colleagues that I worked with at Columbia University that provided valued and constructive feedback on a regular basis to me and my team.  Those feedbacks were not always pretty but they were always extremely impactful and I looked forward to those calls and feedback every semester until I heard them no more.  Not hearing them made me know that things were working as they should.  She was a special kind of person, a class act, a true professional and a great motivator.  She will be sorely missed.  May she rest in eternal peace.

Alice was a wonderful person who gave so much personally and professionally to those of us who had the honor, joy and fortune to work with her.  My thoughts and condolences go to her family who were so important to her.

Oh Alice, how sad I am to know that you are no longer on this plane.  I send you blessings and love on your journey across the Bardo.  You were "One of a Kind" so hard to find in these times.  I will miss you.  Marietta

Dearest Dean Rigas. My heart is heavy. God bless your family. You exemplified grace, compassion, strength, and professionalism. You were kind, generous and even tough with me as you deemed appropriate while I was a student at Columbia Law School. I am so glad that I was able to thank you for your words of wisdom and your encouragement when I spoke with you last. You helped me finish my law school education when I couldn't even afford a Metrocard. Thank you, thank you, thank you for your service to education. My sincerest condolences to your family on their unbearable loss.
