Ana Almanzar was born in the Dominican Republic and immigrated to the United States in 1950. Overcoming several obstacles, Ana worked tirelessly on her own to provide for her five children. Legendary among family & friends, she was known for many things including her delicious Dominican cooking, love of flowers, helping others in any way she could, doting on her grandchildren, and most of all, her kind heart. She was an avid fan of the New York Yankees, The Three Tenors, Wheel of Fortune, Jeopardy, and bingo. She enjoyed taking care of her grandchildren and had the pleasure of traveling with family. Ana was an extraordinarily special one-of-a-kind woman who made this world a better place. She gave lots of joy and had lots of joy. Ana used to speak of a dream she once had where she was in heaven surrounded by gardens of flowers and colors she’d never seen before. We find comfort in knowing that’s where she is today. Ana is predeceased by her son Austin Pichardo and daughter Julie Pichardo. She is survived by her two sons Nelson Pichardo and Robert Pichardo (Loretta) and daughter Annabelle Pichardo. She is also survived by her five grandchildren: Kayla Pichardo, Austin Pichardo, Adam Pichardo, Alexandria Awad and Ariana McDermott (Steven). She is also survived by her great granddaughter Charlotte McDermott, who had the honor of meeting her great grandmother and whose middle name is in honor of her.
