Ellen McDonnell

Ellen McDonnell, passed away peacefully on April 10, 2026, at the age of 96. Ellen was married to the late George Donald McDonnell. She was the mother of Patricia (William Samela), Eileen McDonnell, Kathleen (Robert Lynch), Maureen McDonnell, Diane (John Monks), Michael (Irene) McDonnell, Kelly ( William Lombardi)and John ( Leslie) McDonnell. She was the grandmother of 12 and great grandmother of 7. She was predeceased by her brothers John and Michael Mannion.

It’s truly hard to find words that reflect the special and beautiful woman, mother, wife, grandmother and great grandmother that she was. Both mom and dad created a beautiful and lasting legacy of love, strength, family and faith. Those who knew Ellen, knew her for her kindness and her gentle, loving nature. She loved to dance, laughed easily and baked the best Irish soda bread. She enjoyed her cheese and crackers at her 5 p.m. happy hour while watching Wheel of Fortune and was an armchair champ at Jeopardy! She will be so deeply missed and she will be remembered with deep respect and enduring love.

Visitation will be held at Frederick Funeral Home, 192-15 Northern Boulevard, Flushing, NY 11358, on April 15, 2026, from 3:00 pm to 8:00 pm.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at Our Lady of the Blessed Sacrament Church, 34-24 203rd St, Bayside, NY 11361, on April 16, 2026, from 10:45 am to 11:45 am.
