

Eugene "Gene" Fortunato was born January 1932 to Joseph and Angelina in Brooklyn. He was the youngest of 12 children. He graduated from St. Leonard's H.S., where he was voted best Dancer. He enlisted in the United States Airforce and served during the Korean war. In his 20's the family moved from Brooklyn to Woodhaven Queens. In October 1962 he met the Love of his Life Beatrice "Bea" on a blind date. They married in December 1963 and had three children; Eugene, Angela & Lori. They bought their forever home on a block where the memories will last forever. He had many professions; Truck Driver, Business Owner, Air Freight Manger and most importantly husband and father. He went to Church every Sunday and over the years he was an Usher, Counter and Eucharistic Minister. He was a Brooklyn Dodgers Fan, but when they moved to LA he became a Yankee Fan. He was also a NY Giants Fan. He and his wife were "snow birds" in their retirement on Sanibel Island. He loved life, family, friends and would always make you smile and laugh even at the roughest times of his life. He was never more proud than when he was able to walk his daughters down the Church Aisle on their wedding day; Angela marrying Tommy and Lori marrying Anthony. Eugene "Gene" passed away on April 1, 2026, after suffering with dementia and physical pain and too many ailments to count. He is survived by his two daughters; Angela & husband Tommy and Lori & husband Anthony, he is also survived by his sister-in-law Gloria, his many nieces and nephews whom he loved very much. He is now reunited with his loving wife Bea, his son Eugene, his mom and dad, mother-in-law & father-in-law all his brothers and sisters, brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, niece, nephews and many friends and relatives that have gone before him. He is in Heaven now but in our hearts forever.
Visitation will be held at Frederick Funeral Home, 192-15 Northern Boulevard, Flushing, NY 11358, US, on April 6, 2026, from 3:00 pm to 5:00 pm, and again from 7:00 pm to 9:00 pm.
A Mass of Christian Burial will take place at St. Kevin's RC Church, 45-21 194th St, Flushing, NY 11358, US, on April 7, 2026, from 11:00 am to 12:00 pm, followed by interment at Mount St. Mary Cemetery, 172-00 Booth Memorial Ave, Flushing, NY 11365, US, from 12:30 pm to 1:00 pm.
In lieu of flowers the family is requesting donations to any Veterans Charity of choice in loving memory of Eugene.
