Filomena L. Cardenas

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Filomena L. Cardenas, of Fresh Meadows, New York who left us on Thursday, October 17, 2024, at the age of 77. Born to Agustin and Tarcela Cardenas, who have also passed away, she was a beloved sister to Agustin Cardenas Jr., Efren Cardenas, Irene Punsal, Remy Pasion, and Reynaldo Cardenas. She is a cherished aunt and second mother to her nieces, nephews, grand nieces and grand nephews. She will be reuniting with her parents and her brother, Jose Cardenas, who preceded her in death.

Filomena was a woman of deep passion, pouring her heart into everything she did. Her love for God, family, and friends was evident in her every action. She had a unique way of making everyone feel special, always calling them "darling," and ensuring no one left her home without a full belly or something to take with them.

Her love for gardening was unparalleled; her plants thrived under her care, lasting far longer than expected, much like the love she cultivated within her family, friends and even her acquaintances. Among her favorites were calla lilies, which symbolized her beauty and grace.

She will be profoundly missed by all who had the privilege of knowing her. In our hearts, her legacy of love and passion will continue to bloom.

A visitation for Filomena will be held Friday, October 25, 2024 from 3:00 PM to 9:00 PM at Frederick Funeral Home, 192-15 Northern Boulevard, Flushing, NY 11358. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Saturday, October 26, 2024 at 9:45 AM at Mary's Nativity - St. Ann Parish, 4602 Parsons Blvd, New York, NY 11355. Cremation Private.
