~~~ I can still see Reno swimming with me at the Mad Ave Presbyterian pool, even tho' it wasn't of our faith. But 'our' pool was just down the block from Trinin, and Trinin was around the corner from where I lived. And it didn't get better than that, until they told us, that the Church had changed the rules.  With my loving thoughts to Sarah and her beautiful family, who made me feel part of hers and Reno's family. 




With a heavy heart I want to leave my prayers and blessings to my dearest Aunt Sarah and her family as they go through this difficult time in grieving for a wonderful husband, father and grandfather. Caro Lazzaro, for me always "Rino", 
despite the lomg distance, yours has been a constant presence for me since I was a child. 
The "uncle" from America who occasionally appeared in Faenza and who never forgot his wishes for Christmas and for Easter using Crane’s precious cards or phone calls in the traditional way.
For me as a young guy, you were kind of the personification of the American dream and personally I wanted to find out more in the summer of my 20s with my first big transatlantic journey. During a couple of weeks, I had the opportunity to discover NYC with an exceptional guide. We crossed the Queensboro Bridge every morning before 6.00am to reach Manhattan and open your stationery shop.
I still remember those early morning conversations about a city which in those years was a bit dangerous, but also so authentic. Then I went back more than 20 years later with my spouse Esther and it was like time has not passed. Then we coincided few times more and I have always a beautiful memory of our meetings like the day we spent in Montserrat with a nice lunch all together in here in Rellinars.
I have all good memories of you, Rino: you were among those people who always transmitted positive vibes and optimistic mood. You were always ready for a joke and at the same time serious and wise in dealing with important matters.
I will really miss that phone call around Christmas and that inimitable accent speaking Italian.
Even after 95 years, life is too short for the people we love.
Rest in peace my friend.

Dearest Sarah, Glynis and Mark, 

Our hearts and prayers go out to you at the loss of this wonderful man whom we were honored to know and call cousin. An amazing husband, father, grandfather and friend - I will always remember his strong family values, his vibrant smile and shining eyes full of love, life and laughter.  A complete blessing to be in his presence! He and your grandmother Nonna welcomed me and treated me so lovingly and kindly - I will never forget it and you will all have a place in my heart forever more.
