A beloved father, son, brother, and partner, Matthew will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him. He was the devoted father of Matthew C. Phelan and the loving son of Matthew J. and Karen Phelan. He was a cherished brother to Daniel Phelan and is now reunited with his late brother, Michael Phelan. Matthew was a proud stepfather to Cheyenne and shared a beautiful love with his life partner, Madeline.
A true outdoorsman at heart, Matthew found peace and joy in nature. He loved fishing, hunting, hiking and climbing—always eager to spend time under the open sky. He had a passion for cooking, baking and gardening, often recreating meals with care and skill. Matthew also had an incredible gift for working with his hands—there was nothing he couldn’t build or fix.
His strength, kindness, and self-reliance left a lasting impression on those around him. He will be remembered for his loyalty, his laughter, and the love he shared so freely with family and friends.
