Dear Stella Fanily:
I am very saddened to hear about Michael.  Gretlies and Frank have been my neighbor for 23 years when I lived in Queens.  They moved in next-door when Chris was three years old with a cute older brother with blond curly hair- Michael. Gretlies and I we’re best friends and I miss her very much. We used to go shopping together, go out to lunch and have cocktails in the afternoon in the backyard. She would take my kids to school every day along with Michael and Chris.   
Frank – God I love Frank, he used to bust my chops all the time. 
Michael and Chris played with my three kids, Peter, Victoria and Stephanie.  We were in each others house for 23 years. We used to have barbecues in the summer and winter (even in the snow), parties and dessert and coffee plus after dinner drinks almost every night in the summertime.  I remember Michael jumping out the second-story window into the snow to get to the garage to shovel us out when we had a nor’easter snowstorm.   We were snowed in and could not get out of our house.   I remember when Michael was old enough to cut the grass he used to cut my front lawn. I really appreciated that.  We both had above the ground pools in our yards and my kids used to always end up in the Stella’s pool.  Michael was always the lifeguard and made sure that my two girls were always safe. Peter and Chris we’re on their ownplaying together all the time.  For a number of years we even spent Christmas dinners together at the Stella‘s house.  The most beautiful Christmases we ever had.  Oh and I forgot to mention the Halloween parties.  We had a beautiful friendship. 
Again I am so sorry to hear about Michael.  All I can say is that Michael is in a better place than we are and he’s with his mother and father.  He is blessed by God because God called him home.

I had the privilege of working with Mike for several years. I am so blessed to have met someone like him. He was such a genuinely good friend of mine and will be missed so deeply. I last saw him about a
month ago when we set up one of our dinners. For the most part, it was
always Jessica, his wife Maureen, mike and me. Sometimes our significant others would go as well. He had a Nickname for me and as much as I hated it I am going to miss it now.  “BAM” was what he would
call me, for anyone who use to work with us is probably laughing now because they know what it stands for. Stella not only showed me things for work but EVERYTHING I NEED TO KNOW ABOUT FOOD! He always use to say I didn’t know what good food was until I met him lol I think after that I became like his stepdaughter.  He had a task, to show me as many good places to eat as
we possibly could go too. I will miss our dinners, our conversations, coming over for the summer and enjoying some goooooood bbq he knew how
to make so well. Maureen, you have a special place in my heart too and
my prayers are with you and your family always. While saying my last goodbyes and even with all this pain mike’s humor came to my mind. I know he was probably looking down and saying Steph you’re going to need a whole row just for yourself. I love you, Mike, you mean so much to me. All I can say is Thank you for all those wonderful memories I will carry with me until the day comes that we meet again. I promised you I will never stop exploring and seeing different things life has to offer. It’s not a goodbye but an i’ll see you later, Jess and I will
truly miss you!

Even though we did not know Mike for very long, he brought everyone around him lots of laughter and happiness. He had such a great personality and was an all around amazing person. Our little boy loved him too. The world has lost a truly great guy.  Our most heartfelt condolences to Maureen & the family. 

Mike was a special man. His humor and contagious smile and laughter are what I will remember most. I always enjoyed discussing sports and our favorite players and maybe more so discussing the players we didn’t like. Whatever the topic, the conversation was always filled with laughter. I always enjoyed the friendly banter and I’m grateful my fandom lined up with his. As a Giant and Yankees fan I did not have to take the ribbing for being a fan of the “other” NY sports teams. When I watch his favorite teams I will always think of him. We’ve been to many fishing trips and ballgames. And as the best of friends with Chris, Mike always treated me like a brother and I always thought of him as the same. 

My sincere condolences to Maureen and Chris and the entirety of both families. Mike was one of a kind. 

Michael was more than my cousin, he was my friend and my confidant. I was a recipient of his generosity, concern, friendship and most importantly, his love I was also a happy recipient of his humor. We texted and talked often and if people ever saw what we wrote and what we called each other they’d either have us committed or arrested or both. I lLaughed hard and often with Michael. He had a knack for getting me out of my mood. I want to share a text between the both of us - a very very benign text. He and Maureen had visited us one day and brought dessert for about 40 people. The cookies were outrageously delicious but I had a problem so I texted him the next day with a usual  opening—“Hey __head, how how are you”?
M: Super, __face, whats up? 
P:  did you ask the bakery to put crack in those cookies?
M: LOL they are fantastic Aren’t they?
P: yeah, but they are killing me, you do know that I’m an insulin diabetic right?
M: I’ll be over next week with another box.
Lol Lol Lol 
Every name we called each other every joke we told about each other was done lovingly & at the end of every text and every conversation we told one another we loved eachother.
I’m going to miss starting my day without those texts, and his laughter, and everday bantor. I’m going to miss his bear hugs, going out to dinner, the Stella gatherings, and going to his house.
Losing Michael is a profound loss but only great people are mourned so deeply and genuinely. I’ll miss him forever and I’m sure he’ll have a joke waiting for me when I see him next.

It is with a heavy heart that I send my love and condolences to Michael's family he was a great person friend and co-worker the many years I am saddened by his lost he was a great guy God bless you all

My deepest condolences to Maureen and her family for the sudden loss of Mike. I knew Mike for 22 years and considered him a very good friend. I just had dinner with him only the week before and we talked about baseball and all the other things we both had in common including the loss of both our Dad's that passed around the same time. I will miss talking baseball, Star Trek, Sci. Fi and other things that amused both of us. And most I will miss his warmth and friendship. We have an angel in Heaven looking down upon us. Be well my friend. I am glad I got to know you. And until we meet again, I will think of you when I watching the Yanks or the Mets, or our favorite Star Trek episodes.

My sincere condolences to Maureen and all his family.  I never met Mike but  have worked with him for a number of years.  Such a wonderful caring  man , I am so saddened  by his passing.   Mike is by far the funniest person I have ever met.  I regularly told him he missed his calling as a stand up comic.   The one liners and his quick wit were  so special.   He had a comeback for everything.  Truly, such fun speaking with him....     I will miss him  every day ..... 

Mike was one of the most genuinely nice people that I have known.   He loved life and enjoyed making friends. His friendship was from the heart. He always had a kind word and a smile. (Even for Mets fans)
When my mom passed, Mike took time off to attend her funeral mass.  I will never forget that.

I have never met Mike in person, but I feel like I know him. Mike is one of the most generous and caring person. He loved Maureen so much.  He sends her the most beautiful flowers  at work. She’s always embarrassed by it. They were the most massive arrangements., no one can miss them. We joked that Mike is marking his territory.  If Maureen talks about something the next day Mike would get it for her. Talk about relationship goals.  Maureen has allergies they are so bad at time and the nasal spray she uses caused nose bleeds. I suggested maybe she should look into my pure mist. Maureen looked it up online. It was pricey. She hesitates. Mike heard about it and just bought it. He knows she like salad for lunch.  Right away he bought her a stainless steel salad spinner to not only dry the lettuce but it kept it cold in the fridge just the way she like it. He gets home before she does so he makes dinner and sometimes she brought left overs to work which smelled so good.  From Mike I learned about the Deli in the Bronx by Botanical Garden. In everything he did you can tell he loved Maureen. He celebrated their love daily and never took her for granted. From those of us who knows Maureen, we feel like we know Mike through her eyes and will remember him fondly. That is the impact of Mike tho we never met. I will never forget the love stories of his parents who were engaged to other people and found love during the war. How they visit German with his family yearly. This annual trips to Florida for spring training.  How Maureen and Mike were set up on a blind date and it was love at first sight.  Mike and Maureen is not just about themselves but it is always about their family and loved ones. I am privileged to know a glimpse of their story and it is one of those rare stories that makes you smile because of it’s purity and simplicity. 

     Mike will really be missed.  He was one of my faves at Gallant and Wein and talking to him always brightened my day.  Such a nice man taken way too soon.
     My prayers go out to his family and his Gallant & Wein family.  
I am so very sorry for your loss.

He was so friendly to my parents when I took them to New York for the first time a few years back. My mom remembers how animated and friendly he was even though she didn’t really catch anything he said (she speaks mainly Japanese). Appreciated the fact he went out of his way to make my parents feel comfortable in his home.
