May 29, 1935 – March 8, 2022
Our mother, grandmother, cousin, aunt and dear friend, Muriel went to heaven on Tuesday evening, March 8th. She was 86 years old.
Born in New York on May 29, 1935, Muriel and her mother Margaret Rainy Schneider lived in Greenpoint Brooklyn with Margaret’s sister Helen Lehr and Brother-in-law Charles Lehr.
Helen and Charles had three children, Peggy, Muriel and Chick who doted over “Baby Muriel” as she was lovingly referred to by her cousins. Mom always said she never felt like an only child because they were all so loving and kind to her as she was growing up. Muriel attended St. Cecilia’s Catholic elementary school and graduated from Long Island City High School in 1953.
Muriel worked for James McCutcheon & Company on 34th Street and 5th Avenue where she made many life-long friends and where she met her husband, Rudy. They were married for 40 years before his passing in January 1998.
Her life with Rudy and raising her family was her passion. She was a wonderful daughter, wife, and mother. Her extended family: aunts, uncles, cousins, in-laws, and friends were equally important to her. She treasured her relationships in life and recognized them for the blessings that they were.
Muriel retired in 1997, after 24 years of service as Executive Administrative Assistant for National Cleaning Contractors and she served on the Board of Directors for Northridge Co-Op Section III.
Muriel is survived by her son, Robert Sargenti (Fran), her daughter Rosemarie Ebdon (Chris), her son-in-law Jossie Abreu (Lissette), and her grandchildren, Rudy Sargenti, Katelyn Ebdon and Nickolas Ebdon.
She was preceded in death by her daughter Karen Abreu and her husband Rudy.
A visitation for Muriel will be held Tuesday, March 15, 2022 from 3:00 PM to 7:00 PM at Frederick Funeral Home, 192-15 Northern Boulevard, Flushing, NY 11358. A funeral mass will occur Wednesday, March 16, 2022 from 9:30 AM to 10:15 AM at Our Lady of Fatima, 2502 80th Street, East Elmhurst, NY 11370. An interment will occur Wednesday, March 16, 2022 from 11:15 AM to 12:00 PM at St. Charles/Resurrection Cemeteries, 2015 Wellwood Avenue, West Babylon, NY 11735.
