

Patrick (Pat) J. Sugrue, a cherished and devoted individual, passed away on February 20, 2026, at the age of 97. Born on November 23, 1928, in County Kerry, Ireland, Pat was a hard-working man who lived a full and meaningful life in Flushing, New York.
Pat proudly served as a US Army Veteran and later retired from a dedicated career at Con Edison. He was married to Peggy Clancy from Carrowfree, County Clare, Ireland, and together they built a loving family. Pat was the beloved husband of the late Peggie and is survived by his children Michael, Mary, Patricia, and Patrick and their spouses. He was a proud grandfather to Alexa, Alana, Victoria, Eric, Dominick, Frankie, Anthony, Sydney, Kelley, and Holly. Pat was also a brother to Cautie and Eileen, and predeceased by his siblings Jimmy, Sean, Bob, Maureen, and Breda.
In his personal life, Pat was known for his skills as a great carpenter. He loved to travel with his wife and family and enjoyed Irish music and dancing at the Mineola Irish Center. Pat had a fondness for his dogs, P.J., Rusty, Sammy, and Sammy, and was affectionately known locally as "The Irish Guy with the Golden Retriever" with his pockets full of dog treats and candies. He was a friendly presence in his community, often engaging in conversations with everyone he met during his daily walks, and was always known for his great smile and his positive outlook.
Pat cherished attending the Saturday 5 pm mass at St. Kevin's, followed by dinner at the Bayside diner.

The visitation for Pat will be held at Frederick Funeral Home, located at 192-15 Northern Boulevard, Flushing, NY 11358, on Wednesday, February 25, 2026, from 3:00 pm to 8:00 pm.
A Funeral Mass will take place at St. Kevin's RC Church, 45-21 194th St, Flushing, NY 11358, on Thursday, February 26, 2026, at 9:45 am.
The Committal Service will follow at Mount St. Mary Cemetery, 172-00 Booth Memorial Ave, Fresh Meadows, NY 11365.
Pat will be remembered for his dedication to his family, his community, and his country. His legacy of love and kindness will continue to inspire all who knew him.
