I am shocked and saddened to learn of Dr. Turetsky's passing.  He literally saved my life.  Apparently I had the worst case of sleep apnea he had ever encountered but it went undetected for 3 years until family members referred me to Dr Turetsky.  He was a kind, gentle man and a brilliant physician and I mourn his loss and offer my sincere condolences to his wife and family.   I am so very, very sorry.  A bright light has gone out in the world.  He is missed and will never be forgotten.

I just learned of Arthur’s passing.  Arthur was a classmate sharing our home room for 4 years at Bassick High. We also sat next to each other in the clarinet section of the band for 4 years.  His Dad was our family doctor.  God Bless.

I just learned of the passing of Dr. Turetsky.  He was a very caring and kind man.  Those words are common however it is not common to meet someone who embodies them as Dr. Turetsky did.   I only met him a few times and yet he made a significant impression on me.  My thoughts go out to his friends, family and co-workers while they mourn his loss.

I still can’t believe that my wonderful, caring doctor is gone. Dr. Turetsky has been my primary care since I moved to Connecticut 30 years ago.    I had asked a nurse friend for the name of someone she would recommend.  I have always felt that nurses can give the best referrals.  Dr. Turetsky was at the top of her list.  He was highly regarded in the medical community and so empathetic and kind.  I am so grateful for the wonderful care he has given me and my husband through the years.  He will be sorely missed.  My very deepest sympathy goes out to his wife and extended family.

I was supposed to have an appointment with Dr. Turetsky today. I was surprised that no one had called to remind me. My husband called to double check if it was still on, and told me the very sad news. I am just heartbroken. My most sincere condolences to Dr. Turetsky's family and friends and everyone at the practice. I only saw the doctor a couple of times, but he made a deep impression on me. Dr. Turetsky was one of the sweetest people I have  ever met in my life, and when I told that to the girl at the desk where I made my next appointment, she said everyone there and all his patients felt the same way. What a loss to humankind. 

We had been patients  of Dr. Turetsky & his PA Joanna for quite a few years. We saw a man with a dry sense of humor who had our best  interests at heart. Dr. Turetsky was always there walking beside us even with his usual heavy practice,
When we heard he had passed on, we felt intense grief for a great doctor & man whose life was cut way too short. We feel privileged to have known him. Dr. Turetsky was a family doctor for my mom, dad, my husband and brother in law.  We mourn with you all in his passing.  He was one of the most amazing men all of us have ever met.  When my mom was ill many years ago, it was Dr. Turetsky who sat by her side and comforted her like no one else could.  When my husband had pneumonia, Dr. Turetsky called me every night to see how I was doing.   
He will be sorely missed.  We keep him and all of you in our prayers

I just heard of Dr. Turetsky’s passing a couple of days ago. He had been my doctor since I moved to CT in 2005. I respected him greatly and was happy to be in his capable hands. I am so sorry for his family. I have read about his amazing life. It is a great loss. May he RIP.

I literally just found out this afternoon that Dr Turetsky passed away in April. He was my sleep doctor for the past 5 years and he was such a wonderful man. He was glad I listened to his orders and always said that I was a good man. He even saved my life when I went into AFib one day in August 2016. He will be missed dearly. May Dr Turetsky RIP. I was so saddened to hear about Dr. Turetsky. I was a patient of Dr. Turetsky & his PA Joanna for many years and just heard about this great loss. I met Dr. Turetsky last year and only  went to his office three times before his passing.  He helped me so much that the quality of my life improved  greatly.  I found him to  be a kind and treasured doctor.  I am so sadden by  his passing and even though I didn't know him for long I will miss him. Dear family:  Dr. Turetsky was the primary care physician for my parents: Arthur and Ruth Rotzal for decades. Dad passed in 2007 and from that time Mom depended more than ever on  Dr. Turetsky's guidance. Mom passed in Feb. 2019 in Bridgeport Hospital after 11 days there. However, before entering the hospital, Mom insisted on seeing Dr. Turetsky first because he would know what was best for her.  Dr. Turetsky was kind and especially compassionate with Mom. He could sway her to do the right thing. That day he so kindly told Mom she must go to the hospital as her respiratory issues were mounting. She accepted his word and thanked him. God bless Dr. Turetsky (daughter Karen Peterson)

I am so sorry for the loss of Dr. Turetsky. He was both of my parent's primary  care doctor (Art and Ruth Rotzal) and they both relied on him for their care. I know my mother was more than likely quite a challenge but, Dr. Turetsky took it all in stride. He gave great care and guidance up until the end of their lives. Thank you to him as he stepped in and assisted when truly needed.  I hope he knew how important he was to our family.

Then, of course, the families were reconnected when you moved onto Bailey Road when the boys were young.  I have this distinct memory of you telling me that you realized what a down to earth mensch Arthur was, when you saw him reading The Jewish Press in medical school.

I knew Arthur back in the Bridgeport, CT. years.  My family and his had known each other. His father Sam B'H' was at our house on a regular basis, all hours of the night. There were 5 kids at home and someone was always sick. I am about 5 years older than he was so growing up he was just the 'little kid' hanging around us older kids.

I remember Arthur as an inspiring young attending when I was a resident (1978-1982) and as one of my few colleagues who shared my status as  Bridgeport natives. I'll never forget how much Arthur relieved my anxiety when he assumed the care of my father in the last years of Hans's life and I knew he was in good hands. My sister Bobbie joins me in sending condolences to Rochelle.

Dr. Arthur Turetsky was an incredibly special person and physician , one of a kind. He was sincerely caring and always asked about everyone. 
We shared numerous life’s experiences over the years.
He was smart, soft spoken, great sense of humor and an excellent physician.
I have known him for many years,  growing up at Rodeph Sholom in Bridgeport.
I re-connected with him in February 1984 when he successfully treated my asthmatic condition. His office was on Fairfield Avenue at that time with his secretary receptionist Nan whom I’d met years earlier.
He expanded his practice to Fairfield and Monroe  where he continued to treat me with his expanded office and superb staff. 
I am so appreciative of him and his staff who always made time to see me when I was having an issue. 
He was a good friend and we miss him terribly.
He will always be in our thoughts.

To all who loved Dr. T,
I worked with Dr. T for  decades in the Emergency Department at Bridgeport Hospital. Dr. T literally saved my life when I was 23 years old and contracted meningitis from a patient. He was not my doctor, but was in the ED when they brought me in and he immediately knew my fever of 106 and faint rash-was very bad sign  and ordered IV antibiotics- saving my life. From that day on we had a special bond and became great friends. I will never forget Dr. T and his compassionate bedside manner.
My deepest sympathy to all of you who loved him like I did.

My most sincere condolences to the Turetsky family.  Arthur was a friend and colleague for 40 years.  He was my doctor.  My annual visit was always extended as we shared stories about family, patients, world events, etc.  He referred many of his patients to me over the years; they loved him.  Seeing one of his patients was always special.  Perhaps 25 years ago I had a severe upper respiratory infection.  My wife was on Florida.  Arthur and I spoke on a Friday and he started treatment at home.  I recall calling him on Saturday morning telling him I was worse.  He told me to go the ER and he would meet me there.  I told him that I was so weak that I did not think I could safely drive.  So he stopped by my house on the way to the hospital from New Rochelle.  I was evaluated in ER, given some IV antibiotic, etc.  He stopped by to check on me and I inquired as to whether he could drive me home.  His answer was to tell me the room number where I was headed.  I protested.  His answer was "well how do you plan to get home."  The next day I was much better and he drove me home.  What a guy!!!!!!!!

On behalf of my husband , and myself, we’d like to express our deepest sympathies and condolences to the family of Dr. Turetsky. My husband and I have been long time patients of his and are truly heartbroken to hear of his passing.  Dr. Turetsky was the Perry Mason of his field -leaving no stone unturned in search of your diagnosis. He was brilliant, sharp, attentive and most of all compassionate. Dr. Turetsky had been my doctor, my husband's doctor, my sister's doctor, and my mother's doctor for many years. The depth of my sadness at his loss is immense. He was caring and compassionate and I always felt that I could trust my care to him because he was careful and cautious and he always listened to his patients. He always ran late with his appointments because he was taking the time needed to spend with his patients and I knew that when it was my turn, he would spend that time with me also. It is with a heavy heart that I write my condolences to the family of Dr. Arthur Turetsky.  I have been a patient of Doctor's for the past thirty plus years seeing him as recently as this past January.  Dr. Turestky was certainly what we all hope to find in a physician. I was always in awe of his immediate and proactive approach to treatment and diagnoses of not only my pulmonary issues, but also his recommendations for any other medical issues I might bring up during my office visit.  His care and concern not only for me as his patient but also for my family members as well, always struck a positive chord with me.  He always had time for you along with that personal touch that is seldom experienced these days.
        One specific kindness that I shall always remember goes back to the1980s when he diagnosed me with a case of pneumonia.  After being treated for a month, I had a relapse and ended up in the ER of Bridgeport Hospital on a Saturday morning in July that year.  Doctor's office was called but we were told he was leaving that day to begin his vacation and I would be in good hands in the hospital.  Later that morning who should walk into my room but Doctor Turetsky.  I was shocked to see him and asked what he was doing here.  He simply said he was leaving to go away but when he heard I was admitted, he just wanted to stop by and check on me - a gesture that meant so much to me and my family and one that I shall always remember.
       His passing marks a tremendous loss to you his family and to so many others whose lives he touched.  May his memory bring you peace and comfort in the days ahead as you mourn your tremendous loss.  I extend my loving thoughts and prayers to all of you at this time. Rest in Peace, Dr. Turetsky.

I've only worked with Dr. Turetsky for the past two years but those two years have been filled with light and laughter. Dr. Turetsky and I shared a love of corny jokes.  He had a lot of funny one liners and smiles that just made the day that more enjoyable.  I saw examples of how much he cared for his patients, employees and colleagues on a daily basis. I am sad to learn of Dt. Turetsky's passing. I first met him when I was a teenager working at Park City Hospital in the late 1960s and was delighted to reconnect with him when I joined the staff at Bridgeport Hospital in 1992. As others have written, he was a man of quiet grace, wit and charm; he also knew his medicine. Too, I suspect he was a man of faith. He leaves behind a legacy of many doctors that he helped train and mentor and many, many more patients who he met, healed and comforted. We would all do well to be physicians in his mold. Arthur - you have been an ideal doctor - devoted to your patients who loved you and depended on you.   I always enjoyed hearing about your family and your trips to Israel.  Our conversations and your perspectives always meant so much to me.  I will miss working with you and speaking with you.

Arthur,it has been a privilege and blessing to know you as a colleague,friend,and patient.  Jerry and Carol Hemenway.

I can still vividly remember Arthur walking into my office on 
Tower 5  fresh from finishing his fellowship at Albert Einstein under the direction of Henry Williams and asking me how he could help in our teaching program. Over the years Arthur took care of my mother who had asthma and I got to know his family when I visited his sister at her parents home.
Rochelle, please accept my sincere condolences and deepest sympathy . I am so sorry for your loss.

I am so incredibly sorry to hear of Dr. T's untimely death.  I have the fondest memories of him as well as having  the honor of working with Dr. T through my entire career.  His kind and funny nature will never be forgotten.

Arthur exhibited true kindness and care about his patients, who loved him and respected him deeply.  Just like his father Sam, Arthur was a very kind and giving person. I pray you find some comfort in the knowledge that Arthur was beloved to so many.  I began working with him at Bridgeport Hospital when he first started to practice here.  He was a kind and caring physician and his spirit will be greatly missed.   Words cannot express how deeply sorry I am that you had to say goodbye for now. I was fortunate enough to be part of Arthur's "Medical Family". 15 years ago I came from California to join the Bridgeport Hospital community and practiced in an office just above Arthur's. I quickly came to realize that not only was he an extraordinary physician but an amazingly kind and welcoming soul. I also realized he helped build the Bridgeport Hospital medical community (in his image), a kind of Camelot populated by committed physicians and staff who cared deeply about their community, their patients and each other. I am so lucky to have known him and so very sorry for his family, friends, colleagues and other acquaintances who will miss him dearly. 

Dr. Rochelle Turetsky,
I am so hurt to hear of the passing of Dr. Turetsky. I owe you and him so much as, whether you knew it or not, you two changed my life. By getting me into my job at the hospital, you saved me from any unfortunate circumstances that others faced when Gaylord closed. I will be eternally grateful to both of you. I miss my Tuesday afternoons working with Arthur in the Trumbull office. He would always come in with a smile and a joke to tell. He would always tell me he was going to run for president and ask if I would be part of his cabinet if he did. I always said I would! The love I could see in your eyes when you would talk about "your Arthur" was so heart warming to see, even though you two had already been married for many years. I am truly hurt by his passing and am offering my condolences to you and the family. Hoping that you will eventually find comfort in your memories of him.  

My deep condolences to Rochelle and entire Turetsky family.  I have known Dr. Turetsky ever since I began at the hospital 38 years ago.  I worked on the Radiology floor and he always share a smile, joke or kind words.  I bought a refrigerator from him for our first home.  When we would pass in the hallway, he would always joke, "is it still running?"  He will be missed by the Bridgeport Hospital community.

Every day I worked in our Trumbull office next door to Arthur's, I could look forward to the pitter-patter of feet coming down the hall and a "Who's here today?" Then I would get greeted with that smile, and could look forward to chatting about life, my father's retirement, and of course his patients. Arthur was one of the rare doctors who still wanted a face-to-face consult with us radiologists. It was indicative of his kind nature, his congeniality, his wisdom, and most of all his concern for his patients. He was a true doctor in every sense of the word and he will be missed by the whole medical community. I'm honored and touched that our careers overlapped, if only for a few years.

Arthur’s passing is s loss for everyone. He was a kind, warm, lovable man who became a friend to everyone who knew him. I always looked forward to coming into the hospital, as I knew I would bump into Arthur and experience an enjoyable talk full of humor, information and ideas to think about for days after. He was also a wonderful physician whose care stemmed from compassion and wisdom. 

Our Radiology office in Trumbull was literally next door to Arthur's,
and he will come and review X-rays and CAT scans of all his patients, a notable practice forgotten by others, but for Arthur a "must". During those reviews, we also discussed not only practice events, but political and personal matters.  I can only repeat what
some of my other colleagues had mentioned: he was kind, gentle, funny and a pleasure to be with.

My condolences to Arthur's family.  I have been worried during these six weeks of the ordeal.  Arthur saved my life as well as many of my patients in unassuming ways.  He made me a better physician, a better person.  We have lost a special human being.

I worked with Dr. Turetsky for many years in Bridgeport Hospital and in recent years became one of his patients. He will be missed by friends, family and patients. My heartfelt condolences to his family. 

I am heartbroken over the loss of my dear fried, boss and father figure.  You will be missed beyond words.  I will do my very best to take care of your patients....

I am sorry to hear about Arthur.  I knew him as a colleague and a friend when we used to play ball on an empty lot around the corner from his house.

I started at the old practice in a house on Fairfield Ave in Bridgeport with Dr. Turetsky (I could never call Sam by his first name).  Dr. Turetsky felt that Arthur would be a better match as a physician for me.  It led a friendship that was so genuine, dear and enriching.  I and a few other fellows used to meet at Arthur and Rochelle's home in Fairfield for some Torah study before Mincha/Maariv/Havdalah.  He was simply the kindest and nicest man whom it was my honor to know.  A mensch...

Arthur was a dear friend and no words can describe the loss. He was soft spoken, smart, funny and knowledgeable. Always a step ahead of me with the news.  He will be terribly missed and fondly remembered by all.

I was so shocked to hear of Arthur's untimely passing, may he rest in peace and may  his family receive consolation.  Arthur and I were school mates at Yeshiva, we sang in the school choir together , and  we became neighbors in  Fairfield Ct for many years.  He was a Talmid Chacham (Jewish scholar), an excellent Baal Koreh (public Torah Reader), melodious  and musical Baal Tefillah (Cantor), a graduate and faculty member at Albert Einstein Medical School, and a  brilliant physician.  When I first came to the Bridgeport area, Arthur was still in medical school, but I soon became familiar with his father, Sam, who was from the old school and  the most beloved doctor in the community.  Although  Arthur's medical training made him a specialist and  expert in his field,  he never lost the "bedside manner" that his father, Sam, was  so well known  for.  The members of his practice, colleagues, and co-workers will surely miss him, as well as his family ;   Avi, Jonathan, Yehudah and Rochelle and his extended family. I understand, his youngest son, R. Yehudah, is in Israel serving as an NCSY, director  there.  I would like to think that the many hours he spent as a child playing "Barbie"  with my daughter, Dania, may have  contributed to his becoming  a Rabbi and NCSY professional.  I am sure he made Arthur  and 
 Rochelle very proud.  
Over the years I lost contact with the family, but I am sure they will all miss Arthur and will continue to bring Rochelle and him much nachas and joy in the years to come.

I grew up with Arthur in Bridgeport, CT where we attended Congregation Rodeph Sholom Hebrew School.  It wasn't until years later that we re-connected professionally. Although older, the things I remember about him growing up --  his deep caring, concern for people and always trying to be optimistic even when it was difficult only strengthened with age.  Arthur provided me with guidance and spoke about courage and faith as I navigated some very turbulent waters.  I am grateful for our re-connection, send my heartfelt sympathies to his family and his partners who have suffered a great loss as well.  May his memory be for a blessing and may those who loved him most find peace in knowing what a difference he made in so many lives.

Your passing has come as a shock to me. We shared lots of stories and laughs over the years. I will treasure those memories. Our hospital and community has lost a valued and trusted friend and physician.

There was no doctor like Dr. Turetsky! I started with his dad as a child in Black Rock on Fairfield Ave.  We will never find another doctor  that was so kind and compassionate!  RIP Dr. T!
