Blossom (Lifshitz) Miller, almost 90, died on September 13 after living for over a year with pancreatic cancer. She was the daughter of the late Meyer and Yetta (Zausner) Lifshitz and the wife of the late Sherwood Miller. Blossom was born in Brooklyn and lived most of her adult life in Merrick, and recently in Rockville Centre. She was the loving and beloved mother of Ann Miller (Henri Flikier), Jonathan Miller (Alice Nappy) and David Miller (Vera). She also leaves her dear sister Irma Beilinson (late husband Marty). Blossom is survived by nine adoring grandchildren; Caitlin, Devon, Netzach (Hannah), Liana, Tzvi, Corinna (Darcy), Rebecca, Hodaya and Yedidiah, and by two great-grandchildren; Betzalel and Arava. She will also be missed by her niece Sharon (Doug) and nephew Jerry (Fran) and by their children.
Blossom had careers in teaching and bookkeeping; but she viewed raising her children as her most important and most enjoyable job. She took great joy in getting down on the floor with them as toddlers, reading stories and singing songs to them at bedtime, and teaching them to cook and clean up the kitchen afterwards.
Blossom and Sherwood travelled all over the world, including to Australia and Antarctica, and living with their family for six months in Sweden. At home she enjoyed creative needle arts, and several of her embroidered creations hang in her home. Blossom never forgot her roots as a working class daughter of immigrants, and she was extremely generous in donating to charities of all kinds, especially those dedicated to Jewish causes, hunger, and the environment.
