I did not get to know David well, but I was the first Queens College GSLIS graduate to be honored with the David Cohen Multicultural award. I feel blessed to have been part of Queens College GSLIS program's celebration of the contributions David Cohen made to the profession.

I knew David when I was on faculty of the Rosenthal Library in the mid-1990's. He was a kind, dear and deeply committed librarian, scholar, activist and friend. 105 is amazing run and he lived each moment to make the world gentler and more humane. My condolences to his family and friends.

Numerous generations of librarians have had the privilege of being students of this great man. His dedication and caring will always be appreciated by us all.

He was first my teacher then my colleague, always a mentor and a friend. The service was lovely today. I will forever remember a remarkable man.

And a great generation passes.  I knew your Dad through the New York library world--a man of great knowledge who was greatly respected.  May his memory be a blessing.
