Estelle’s ever-cheerful smile lit every family gathering. She was at every  occasion  that mattered, even being at the hospital thru the wee hours when my twins were born. A family chapter has ended. May her memory be a blessing.

In 2023, Estelle developed dementia.  It probably was present for several years prior, but she covered it well, still driving, grocery shopping, and participating in her tai chi exercise group. When Lynn visited, with her aide (and later walker and wheelchair), she continued visiting local art museums and loving it!
At 94, she led a full life. She is survived by daughter, Lynn, Lynn’s partner of 45 years, Stuart Thalblum, her brother, Jay, and nieces, Caren Varner and Helaine Sanders.
A graveside funeral will be held at Hungarian Union Field Cemetery, 82-99 Cypress Avenue, Glendale, NY on Thursday, January 22. 2026 at 11:15 am.  It will also be live-streamed on Zoom.

In Loving Memory of Estelle Berger (page 1)
Estelle was born on July 9, 1931 in Brooklyn, NY to Bessie and Meyer (Marty) Rosenblum, who was an electrician. A few years later, the family welcomed baby brother, Jay.  They spent their summers in a rustic “country house” in Putnam Lake, NY. Their extended family would join them on weekends, filling the small house with joyful noise, a tradition that continued for many decades. 
In the mid-1950s, Estelle was set-up on a blind date with Jacob (Jack) Berger, a WWII Army (Air Force) veteran and chemist, who would become her life partner. They married in 1958. Until their daughter, Lynn, was born in 1960, Estelle worked as a secretary and secretarial-school teacher. The couple initially lived in Rego Park, Queens, and in the mid-1960s, purchased a raised-ranch house in Plainview, Long Island.  Estelle was a fastidious homemaker and devoted wife. She baked a fabulous poppy seed cake, and enjoyed knitting and needlepoint. The family had a schnauzer named Shaker.
At some point in the 1970s, she joined a group of ladies who traveled together by bus to art museums in NYC and beyond several times a year to see the latest exhibits. Art became a life-long passion. The same group of ladies introduced her to a similar theater group that saw all the hot Broadway shows.
In the late 1990s, Jack retired, and they moved to Palm Shores, a 55+ active-adult community in Boynton Beach, Fl, where Estelle lived until her death. That house was kept immaculately clean, too!  In 2005, Jack died of melanoma. The joined-at-the-hip couple were no longer a duo. 
Soon thereafter, Estelle met an intelligent and kind gentleman in her development, Stan Bolotin, a recent widower. They kept each other company for over 10 years until his passing. Stan introduced Estelle to cruises, one of his favorite activities.
