George R. Pittell

George R. Pittell, 89, of West Palm Beach, Florida passed away on Saturday January 27, 2024 at the JFK Medical Center in Atlantis, Florida. George was a New York Department of Corrections Parole Officer. He retired in 1995 after decades of dedicated service. He loved photography and at one point sold some of his amazing photos.

George was dedicated to family. He cared for his mother, Bertha (Klaff) Pittell, for many years until her passing. He kept in touch with family no matter what he was doing or how far away they lived. George met Fran Fox and she brought much joy into his life. They spent their time between New York and Florida visiting family and friends as well as going to shows and participating in other activities.

George is predeceased by his beloved Fran (11/14/1934-3/28/2015) and his brother Lewis Pittell (1/17/1931-1/17/2024). He is survived by his sister-in-law Ruth (Dooley) Pittell, nephew Michael Pittell, niece Lisabeth Pittell Shaffer, and Lisabeth’s children, Alycia Shaffer and Brian Shaffer and many extended family members that he loved.

George passed only 10 days after his best friend and brother, Lewis. Now they are at peace together.

A funeral service for George will be held Monday, February 5, 2024 from 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM at Sinai Chapels, 114-03 Queens Blvd, Forest Hills, NY 11375. Following the funeral service will be a committal service from 2:15 PM to 3:00 PM at Wellwood Cemetery, 1400 Wellwood Avenue, West Babylon, NY 11704.
