Gerald Kurtz was born in New York City on September 25, 1937 to Irving Kurtz and Rebecca Stoller Kurtz, the eldest of their three children, followed by his beloved siblings Steve Kurtz and Maxine, who became Maxine Rauchwerger when she married.
Jerry grew up in Great Neck, New York. His high school friends nicknamed him “Nutsy” because he was a crazy-fun risk taker. Jerry became smitten with a girl named Diane in high school and they married on June 21, 1959. They had a lifelong marriage and nurtured a beautiful family together, first in Forest Hills, then on Long Island, and finally in Hialeah, Florida.
The eldest of their three children was Sabrina, whose name became Sabrina Kurtz-Rossi when she married, followed by Adam Kurtz and then Glenn Kurtz. Sabrina gave Jerry two grandchildren: Allegra and Carson. Glenn gave Jerry another grandchild: Anabelle. Adam gave Jerry two more grandchildren: Mariel and Arie. Jerry’s descendants reach across the United States, from the East Coast to Hawaii, from Maine to Atlanta.
He was a charismatic person who attracted other people to him. He founded a successful printing business in Manhattan. Then he decided to get a college degree, which he obtained while running his business full-time. When he moved to Florida with his family, he reinvented himself as a psychologist, helping countless patients with his expertise. He loved walking and working outside in the yard to create a paradise in Hialeah.
He died on January 18, 2025 with family members nearby. Rest in peace, beloved husband, father, and grandfather.
