Growing up, Jonny played all sports, from touch football in the front yard of our Great Neck home to baseball, volleyball, basketball, tennis, skating, swimming, skiiing—even tobogganing. He was a skilled teammate in snowball and mudpie fights, and a feared opponent.
Always quick with an encouraging word, Jonny modeled how to be an empathic and patient listener. And when telling a funny story, he somehow could always get his listeners rolling on the floor laughing before he’d even reached the punchline.
Jonny made friends easily and widely, from his college days in England to when he learned and became an active member at his Yeshiva. Jonny was a kind-hearted person. He always was helping people in the community, from making sure there was a minyan or driving someone to visit in a hospital. Jonny also enjoyed making children laugh with his ways
