I knew Kurt through the Gustav Mahler Society in New York. He would take one of those special vans to come in for Mahler's birthday dinner and be one of the stars of the party. Witty, intelligent, and not missing a beat. He had clearly lived through many experiences but was always gentle, subtle and a great lover of music. I will miss him at all the Mahler birthday parties.  

Kurt Sonnenfeld  was a very special man.. It was my pleasure to meet him and talk with him. He was so knowledgeable kind and considerate. I had the pleasure of going to his 90th Birthday brunch.  It was a joy to have a debate with him. 
He will be definitely will be missed.  .

Kurt was a wonderful neighbor to our whole family, a kind and caring gentleman, full of wit and empathy for all.  My condolences to the family.

My mother Brigiite Perline (1932-2008)  met Kurt at the Adlai Stevenson Democratic Reform Club in Forest Hills (the club) in the 1960s. They  remained close friends through the years and cried together a tthe outcome of many elections. I remember him fondly as a gentle, intelligent gentleman. Condolences to his family

Kurt, I will miss you.  You mentored me when I first became the Executive Director of the Forest Hills Community House (now Queens Community House}. We worked together with community unrest and budget issues. Your guidance was invaluable.

Kurt Sonnenfeld was a stellar individual. He supported the arts and music and was a long time member of the Austrian Forum in the 1980s and 1990s, at the time that my mother, Marta Eggerth, was president. Kurt stayed in touch with us all these years and came to events and even suggested concert ideas. He was proactive.He was inventive, informed, always enthusiastic and filled with positive energy. Although Kurt was almost three times my age when I first met him in 2014, he immediately felt like a close friend who took me seriously when debating politics, the lyrics of old songs or talking about the (dis)advantages of Vienna's various districts. His sense of humor, his charm and deep interest in and empathy for others made him a wonderful personality one couldn't help but admire and be fond of. My condolences to his family. He will be sorely missed!

I am so sorry to hear of Kurt's passing. He was a wonderful neighbor and friend to the Montag family.  He brought so much joy to all who knew him. And he worked tirelessly for the general good of all. May his memory be a blessing.

Although I only had the pleasure of meeting Kurt a handful of times, what stands out in my memory of him was his quick wit and sense of humor.
He will live on in the hearts of all who knew him.

A wonderful intelligent brilliant man. He was like a second father to me. He will be greatly missed. I hold him in the highest esteem.

We are so grateful for Kurt's leadership in the founding and development of the Forest Hills (now Queens) Community House. His spirit is deeply embedded in this organization and the work that we do.

A wonderful/unique father!!! "Renaissance Man" of Vienna, Austria and NYC. Campaigned for justice/social causes. Culture lover - Gustav Mahler to Mel Brooks. Larger than life personality that will never be forgotten. He will be missed by all who knew him!

One of the most amazing individuals to grace this earth!!!!!! More than a loving cousin but a great friend too. Kurt will be missed by my family.
