Leon used to visit me at work in NYC, 37th and 8th. He would make sure to stop first for his $1 pizza that him and his wife used to always enjoy together. Winter or summer, nothing stopped him from coming into NYC. I would be on lunch break and get a call, “michelle, you have a visitor!”. I would stop what I was doing and race back. Seeing Leon would brighten my day/week/month/year. It was an honor to introduce him to the office, although he was always most comfortable by my side, and I felt the same way. He was a loyal and wonderful friend who made efforts and showed up for the people he loved. If he loved you, you were in! His visits are something I will cherish forever. P

I went to see Leon speak at the temple in Great Neck with Pam, my mom and sister. I remember he was waiting for me to come, and the smile when I did, I will never forget.

Leon was my father’s first cousin. They grew up together in Cmielow, Poland. My father (Arie Greenbaum) and his brother (Teddy Greenbaum) were very close to Leon and after coming to the US stayed close. They were all in the garment business. I remember Leon visiting us often before he married Ann. My sister and I were flower girls in their wedding. We were so glad Leon found someone to share his life with. My sisters Eva and Orah are also saddened by his passing but glad he lived a long and healthy life. May his memory be a blessing.
