Former York College Student,

Dr. Lewis was an inspiration to many students.  Because of his encouragement, it has now been 43 years since I started practicing medicine as a physician.  He wrote the forward for my book and  it is with great sadness that I learned recently of his passing.  I have stayed in touch with him since my graduation from York College many years ago.  He contacted me when he first noticed a change in her condition and I was able to give him a referral.  We would usually talk at least 2-3  times a year, with regard to his care of Pam and his research that he was sure would improve her condition.  My condolences to his family.  He will be missed.  He was a great man.  Thank you for sharing him with us!

To the family of Les Lewis,
I’ve known Les in a casual way for the past 5+ years. I was told to make mention of the ROMEO’s who got to have lunch with Les somewhere in Commack numerous times. He was usually late and was always carrying a briefcase and sometimes got a little lost looking for the restaurant. We kidded him about it. He always got a big lunch with a glass of apple juice. He was a fascinating, intellectual, compassionate man. I got to know of the care he gave to Pamela and he was always asking about my wife Roz. We are very sorry to learn of his untimely passing and hope that you his family get solace from knowing what people thought of Les. His voice will be missed!

My sincere condolences to the family. Dr Lewis was the BEST professor and mentor I had. As a young black female from the island I was inspired to give my all and do my best because he made it so obvious that he was totally invested in me achieving success. Thanks to him I was able to visualize a career path where I could reach for the stars. I am one of the many students that he encouraged to pursue a career in science. Thanks to him I am now a practicing Ob/Gyn. Thank you for sharing him with the students of York College.  I love Dr Lewis, may your soul rest in peace.

The best academic advisor I have ever come across. The best mentor, teacher, and friend. He loved his family and profession fiercely. Thank you for the talks, thank you for the wisdom, that God for you. We met in 1991 and have not lost touch. May your contributions to the sciences live on and your legacy never forgotten. RIP Dr. LEWIS. RIP!

Please accept our condolences on the passing on of a determined, dedicated and accomplished man. My acquaintance with Dr Leslie Lewis was brief, but enough to earn him  my respect for his character and determination to stand by what he believed in.  
His passing has created a void even in the lives of those of us who recently came to know him.  We know how much more so it would be to his family and close friends . We pray for the peace of  God upon you at this time. May you find the strength and temperance required to take you through this most difficult and uncertain time. Having lived so well, I have no doubt that Dr Leslie Lewis is at peace and will remain that way. God bless him and his entire family.

We will all miss you very much Leslie. May you rest in eternal peace and may God give your children strength at this time.

My condolences to Les’s family. Les and I were long time colleagues at York College, which is where I first met him. He was always exciting and interesting to talk with and, in particular, his knowledge of biology was encyclopedic. Many years ago our families shared a tent camping adventure in Taconic State Park.  The world has lost an extraordinary scholar and mensch.

I've know Dr. Lewis for more than 12 years. He's the most caring and compassionate person I've  ever  met. His devotion to his wife Pam is beyond anyone's imagination,  it was pure and rare.
Dr. Lewis  has been an inspiration to me, I have worked alongside him providing  care to his beloved wife Pam and his unwavering faith never failed to inspire. It was with grace and strength that he faced the challenges of each day.  He lived a purpose driven life, one that embodied hope and optimism.
 It was that hope and optimism that took him back to.St. Lucia but only this time it was short lived. On Sunday April 14th he was called home to glory.
Dr. Leslie Lewis has fought the good fight, He kept the faith. He has 
finished the race.

Leslie and I shared growing up in St. Lucia, attending the same church and elementary and primary schools. His aunt was the principal of the Anglican Infant School and a friend of my grandfather's.  His parents too were my grandfather's friends, so Leslie came to us from college in Canada for Christmas vacations  for a couple of years.
In our young adult post college years we socialized with other young St. Lucians in New York. Leslie was in graduate school at Columbia when he met and intoduced us to the woman, Pam, who would become his wife.  Over the years we remained friends with sporadic conversations and meetings, but when we were in St. Lucia at the same time, lunch happened.  The news of Leslie's death was an unexpectedly sad surprise and I grieve with and for his family.  RIP my friend.

I MET DR LEWIS  NOVEMBER OF LAST YEAR  WHEN HE MOVE TO ST LUCIA WITH HIS BEATIFUL WIFE PAMELA LEWIS WHERE I WORKED WITH HIM AS  A CAREGIVER .HIS LOVE AND PASSION FOR HIS WIFE WAS AMAZING ..HE WAS AN AMAZING  EMPLOYER   MAY HIS HUMBLE SOUL REST IN GODS ETERNAL EMBRASE AND MAY HS CHILDREN FIND STRENGTH IN THE LORD
