was born December 26, 1925 in Memphis, Tennessee.
At an early age Bernice gave her life to Jesus Christ. She loved to read and outline her bible. She
was committed to giving back to her community and often assisted in the polls. For her service,
Bernice was awarded numerous accolades and certificates from various politicians and
community leaders.
She was united in holy matrimony with Douglass Hall, Sr. on October 11, 1941. This union was
blessed with 8 children. Douglass preceded her in death on August 28, 1963.
Bernice enjoyed being out in nature. She loved gardening and working the land. She also had a
heart and love for people and would open up her home to anyone in need. She wanted to make a
difference in her community by not only helping those in need but by encouraging the
community to take a stance politically. She championed politicians that stood for causes she
believed in, assisted with voter registrations, and volunteered to work voting polls. Bernice also
enjoyed traveling and learning about new places. All of these attributes are displayed in her
children, her children’s children, as well as their children as they are keeping her legacy alive.
And after all of this, Bernice Reed-Hall peacefully transitioned in the early morning hours of
Monday October 2, 2023 to be with her Lord and Savior.
Her beautiful life will forever be cherished in the lives of her children: Mary L. Jones, Freddie
Hall, Georgia Stanback, Gloria Johnson, Martha Owens, Clara Stanback (Charles Stanback) ,
Douglass Hall, Jr., and Shirley Hall; nineteen grandchildren Brenda Coad (deceased), James
