Born on August 5, 1929, in Manhattan, New York, Ralph was the beloved son of the late Manuel and Nettie Wertheimer. He grew up in Long Beach, New York, where he learned to swim, eventually becoming the captain of the lifeguards. Ralph went on to earn a degree in electrical engineering from City College and proudly served as an officer in the Navy.
Following his military service, Ralph enjoyed a successful career as a computer salesman, working his way up through the ranks at Data General Corporation. He was a dedicated family man, deeply passionate about his loved ones, his faith, and physical fitness. Ralph found joy in swimming, playing tennis, pickleball, and poker, but his greatest happiness came from spending quality time with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Ralph is survived by his daughters and sons-in-law, Manda and Lenny Kristal, and Gail and Mark Palmer; his grandchildren, Ariella, Danielle, Alex, Scott, and Adam; and his great-grandchildren, Asher and Maya. Ralph was preceded in death by his loving wife, Margalit Wertheimer and his sister, Esther Wertheimer.
In honor of Ralph’s generous spirit, donations may be made in his memory to American Magen David Adom and Meir Panim, two charities that held special significance for him. His legacy of love and kindness will always be remembered by those who knew him.
A chapel service for S. Ralph Wertheimer will be held Sunday, October 20, 2024 from 12:00 PM to 1:00 PM at Sinai Chapels, 114-03 Queens Blvd, Forest Hills, NY 11375.
