With deep love and admiration, we honor the life of Sarah Cohen, who passed away at the age of 105 after a life filled with resilience, creativity, and bravery.
Born in Alexandria, Egypt, Sarah built a remarkable life, blending artistry and entrepreneurship. She owned her own apparel business, designing and creating elegant dresses, one of her clients being the wife of the Pasha.
When political circumstances forced her family to leave Egypt, Sarah embarked on a journey that took her through Paris, France before settling in Queens, New York, where she reunited with family members. Never one to stand still, she pursued her passion for fashion, earning a degree from the Fashion Institute of Technology (FIT) and continuing her career in Manhattan’s garment industry.
In her later years, Sarah moved to Florida, where she enjoyed working out at the gym, playing cards, and going to the casino. She was fluent in Ladino, French, Arabic, English, and even conversational Italian.
Sarah was the wife of Isaac Cohen (Z"L) and the mother of Etty Gross and Edwin Cohen (Z"L). She leaves behind a legacy through her five grandchildren and ten great-grandchildren. She was also a sister to Caden, Fortuné, and Vitale.
Sarah’s life was a testament to strength, optimism, and perseverance. She will be deeply missed but forever remembered by all who were fortunate enough to love her.
May her memory be a blessing.
