Sima Ellenbogen

It is with great sadness that we announce that Sima Ellenbogen passed away peacefully on Thursday, March 9th, surrounded by her husband and children. Sima was born on November 5th, 1956 in the Bronx to loving parents, Abe and May Ellenbogen. She married her high school sweetheart, Zane, and had two children, Nathan and Hallie. She was a devoted grandmother to her five grandchildren - Lila, David, Madeleine, Leo, and Grace - and a caring sister to Joe and Irene. In her free time, Sima enjoyed listening to music (Bruuuuce), going to Broadway shows and concerts, cooking, and rooting for the New York Yankees. What she enjoyed most of all was spending time with her family and friends. Games of Scrabble and trips to Ocean Grove were favorites. A cancer survivor for over 30 years, Sima was an inspiration to those around her and a bright light to those facing adversity. Despite her health challenges, Sima lived a full life, taking advantage of every moment to its fullest. She never forgot a birthday or missed an opportunity to spoil her grandchildren. Her memory will be a blessing to all of her family and friends and anyone lucky enough to have spent time with her. A funeral service for Sima will be held Sunday, March 12, 2023 from 12:00 PM to 1:30 PM at Sinai Chapels, 114-03 Queens Blvd, Forest Hills, NY 11375. Following the funeral service will be a committal service from 2:15 PM to 3:00 PM at Cedar Park Cemetery, 735 Forest Avenue, Paramus, NJ 07652. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to World Central Kitchen and the International Fund for Animal Welfare.
