With deep love and heavy hearts, we announce the passing of Zelma Steinberg who left us on December 31, 2025. Zelma was born in the Bronx NY, the oldest of three daughters, to Harry Pollack and Anna Barron. She was married to Samuel Steinberg and had three daughters Michele, Gail and Hillary who all loved her very much.
Zelma was warm and loving and was adored by all who knew her. In her spare time, she enjoyed needlework and would also dabble in painting. She loved her children and her grandchildren more than anything. Zelma was a very kind and sincere person who wanted to help everyone – her daughters and their families, her friends, friends of her daughters. Zelma could also be found in her kitchen baking the most amazing mandelbrot and rugelach, exploring impressionist paintings at museums, bowling and playing mahjong with her friends. Over the years, her different grandpets always enjoyed her company and begging successfully for treats.
Zelma is survived by her daughters Michele Tomic (sp Igor), Gail Shatz, Hillary Steinberg, her grandchildren Skylar and Zane Shatz, her sister Davida Charpak (sp Michael), their children Joseph, Chana, and Batia, and grandchildren. Additionally, all her nieces and nephews remember her fondly.
