

Angus Freeman Hyatt, age 92 years of 851 Colonization Rd. W., Fort Frances, Ontario passed away on Tuesday, May 24, 2011 with his family at his side.
He was born on March 4, 1919 to Noble and Annie (Wicks) Hyatt in Emo, Ontario. He was raised on the farm in Lash Township, where he attended and completed grade school. Angus worked in the bush and on the family farm with his dad. From 1941 until 1946, he served overseas in the army during World War II. While in the army he married (Iris) Ferne Patterson on April 25, 1942. They started their life together and dairy farmed in Burriss from 1947 until 1969. He then worked from 1969 until his retirement in 1984 at the Fort Frances Jail. Angus served as Reeve and Council Member for 32 years with the Township of LaVallee. He also received the Senior of the Year Award from LaVallee Municipality in 2005. Angus was a member of the Oddfellows in Fort Frances, and of the Royal Canadian Legion Br. 99 in Emo. While living on the farm, he was a prominent active and well known member within the Agricultural Community. He also was an avid hunter and fisherman, enjoying many outings with family and friends. One of his greatest enjoyments was to have family get togethers, where he could enjoy a good home cooked meal and spend time visiting and telling stories with those he loved.
He was predeceased by his parents, Noble and Annie Hyatt; brothers, John, Joseph and George Hyatt; and sisters, Eileen Strachan, Joyce Walton and Eunice Booth; and son-in-law, Larry Andrushuk.
He is survived by his wife, Ferne (Patterson) Hyatt of 69 years; children, Sharon Andrushuk, Christine (Gordon) Playter, Patti (Lance) Halstead, Kevin (Friend Ruth Mackie), and Iris (Randy) Gerhard; twenty grandchildren and seventeen great grandchildren. He is also survived by his brother; Fred (Evelyn) Hyatt; sisters, Sylvia Beadle, Grace (Keith) Neilson, Shirley Mills and Vivian Cole; brothers-in-law, John (Helen) Patterson and Ted Grennier; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held on Monday, May 30, 2011 at 10 a.m. at Green Funeral Home in Fort Frances, Ontario. Reverend Frances Flook will officiate with interment in Burriss Cemetery in Burriss, Ontario.
The Royal Canadian Legion Color Guard will provide their tribute during the service.
Family and friends may visit Sunday evening from 7 until 9 p.m. at Green Funeral Home in Fort Frances, Ontario.
Active pallbearers will be Darcy Andrushuk, Trevor Andrushuk, Tyler Andrushuk, Brandon Hyatt, Christopher Williams and Jordan Marsh.
Honourary pallbearers will be all his grandchildren and great grandchildren.
