Barry was born on August 14, 1960 in Atikokan, Ontario to Norman and Helen Steele. He grew up in Atikokan, enjoying all that Northwest Ontario had to offer. He worked for the Canadian National Rail as a track hand until he developed rheumatoid arthritis. He loved to be outdoors, fishing, hunting, spending time at the cabin and volunteering at the fishery hatchery. He was generous to a fault, always willing to lend a hand to family and friends.
He leaves behind his wife Stacey; son Bradley; daughter Katie; stepdaughter Jennifer; mother Helen; brothers Larry (Rita) and Jerry; sisters Judy (Len) Anderson, Sandra Armstrong, Susan (Butch) Roy and Tracey (Bill) McGowan as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
Barry was predeceased by his father Norman and brother-in-law Orval Armstrong.
A celebration of life will be held on Saturday September 29, 2018 at 1 p.m. at the Royal Canadian Legion in Atikokan, Ontario
The honourary pallbearers will be Richard Maddanas, Brian Hanson, Morley Gage, Brian Stewart, John Herber and Mark DeGagne.
