

Ojibways of Onigaming First Nation, passed away Friday March 29, 2013 at the Lake Of The Woods
District Hospital in Kenora, Ontario.
She was born March 30, 1944 in Fort Frances, Ontario. She lived in the area most of life.
Beverly enjoyed attending traditional Pow-wows, hockey and fastball games following her favorite
teams the Sabaskong Lakers & Cubs. She worked as a commercial fisherman, short order cook and
gave many years of service to the Educational & Customary Care system at the Ojibways of
Onigaming First Nation as a parent, board member, teacher's aide and Elder.
She loved spending time with her grandchildren often taking them with her to Pow-wows, Where
she looked forward to talking for hours with her numerous friends.
Beverly leaves behind her; children, Joseph Jr., Chris (Margaret), Brian, Lisa, and Lynn;
grandchildren, Cody (Chiata), Evelyn, Kyle, Riley, Devyn, Brandyn, Joshua, Darren (Sarah),
Serene (Dave), Corey; Grace and Trapper Horton and great-grandchildren, Aliyah, Lauryn, Ella, Connor, Koden
and Aiden.
Also surviving are her sister, Eileen and brother Craig (Audrey) Jourdain; as well as numerous
nieces, nephews, and other family members.She will also be sadly missed by her favourite cat "Apache".
She was predeceased by her husband, Joe; father, Leonard of Couchiching First Nation;
mother, Kathleen (nee Morrisseau) of Couchiching First Nation; sisters Joyce & Jackie;
brothers, Donald & Leslie.
A service will be held Tuesday, April 2, 2013 at 10 a.m. at the Ojibways of Onigaming First
Nation gymnasium with Elder Louis Councillor officiating.
Cremation will take place following the service and later placed with her husband Joe on his
trapline.
The pallbearers are Burt Woods, Aaron Jourdain, Rich Walton, Darrell Johnson, Derek Shebagegit
and her favorite worker Doug (Moddy) Kelly. Honorary pallbearers are Mary Kelly, Corrine Kelly,
Denise Copenace, Phyllis George, Sharon Bernard, and Marcella Desrosiers.
A special thanks to all the Nurses of the Lake Of The Woods District Hospital, the Paramedic
Units of Sioux Narrows, Nestor Falls, Emo and Naotkamegwanning, Drs. Pedersen, Harland and
Walters. Also to Anita, Miranda, Derek, Myrna, Cindy and Frank Shebagegit.
