It is with profound sorrow that the family of Bruce Robert Lowes announces his passing on Monday, September 9, 2013. After a five year courageous battle with cancer, Bruce passed away with his family by his side at LeVerendrye General Hospital.
Bruce was born in Fort Frances, December 14, 1956 to William (Bill) and Ruth Lowes. He lived in Fort Frances all of his life and worked at the local paper mill earning his 2nd Class Stationery Engineer ticket and retired this past summer. Bruce met the love of his life, Margaret Vnuck, and was married July 5, 1980.
Bruce loved the outdoors; he was an avid fisherman, hunter, snowmobiler and four-wheeler. He taught his son Brad to love and enjoy all these same things. Bruce craved knowledge, if he was interested in something he learned everything he could about it. He particularly valued his friends and enjoyed coffee with them whenever possible. At the drop of a hat he would go fishing and hunting with friends if Brad was not available. Bruce was very devoted to his family and friends.
In later years the highlight of Bruce’s life was when Brad married Terra and the grandchildren started arriving. He loved to spend time with them and in general spoil them.
He leaves behind his wife Margaret; son Brad (Terra); grandchildren Emily, Lia and Brett; mother Ruth;
sister Helen (Bruce); niece Erin as well as Margaret’s family including Vincent, Sharon (Stewart), and Patricia (Richard) and numerous nieces and nephews and many good friends.
Bruce was predeceased by his father William and brother James.
A memorial service will be held on Thursday, September 12, 2013 at 11:30 a.m. at Green Funeral Home with Father Victor DeGagne officiating.
Cremation has taken place with internment in the Riverview Cemetery in Fort Frances, ON.
The honourary pallbearers will be Steve Johanson, Ron Stuart, Bill York, John Kotnik, Terry Mihichuk, and Tony Morelli.
