He was born October 19, 1931 in Saint-Paul, Montmagny, Quebec to the late Napoleon & Yvonne Lemieux.
Conrad moved to Fort Frances as a young man and worked at various logging camps. He later worked for the railroad and the last 20 years at the local paper mill as a millwright where he took early retirement at age 55.
Throughout his working days he also did carpentry work.
Conrad built their current home which has such beautiful views of the river which he never tired of looking at.
He enjoyed spending time in his garden. He would always send his kids home with fresh vegetables or they would arrive home from work to find a bag of tomatoes or cucumbers hanging from the doorknob.
Conrad took up two sports, curling and golf at a relatively late age. He enjoyed both for many years and made three hole in one’s, one at Kitchen Creek and two at Heron Landing.
He enjoyed playing cards and bridge with family and friends. Dolly and Conrad played many hands of honeymoon bridge over the years.
He married Dolly in 1952 and together they raised four children.
He is survived by his wife Dolly of 60 years, daughters Gail Lemieux, Diane (Rod) Pattison and son David Lemieux. His brother Napoleon (Irene) Lemieux, Six sisters Noella (Willie) Proteau, Rita (Lionel) Blain,
Jeanne d’Arc (Roland) Vezina, Rosanne (Omer) Godbout, Doris (Yvan) Laflamme and Lorraine (Raymond) Marcelau.
Three grandchildren Brian (Hailey) Johnstone, Gary Pattison (Daphne) and Jason Pattison (Kayla) and three great grandchildren Sienna & Tristan Johnstone and Nicholas Pattison.
He was predeceased by his son Gary in 1976 and one brother Leonard.
All three of his grandsons were raised in Fort Frances and they have lots of wonderful memories of their Grampa. Of course, it goes without saying how special they were to him.
Our family will miss him dearly but we have lots of great memories.
Cremation will take place and a private family service will be held at a later date.
