It is with heavy hearts the family of Donald Lynn (Baldy) Baldwin announce his passing on Wednesday May 6th 2020. As a young boy Donnie grew up in Mine Centre and Fort Frances, Ontario attending Robert Moore School. He spent a lot of time, like most kids in the area, playing hockey, baseball, fishing and hunting. After a brief stint in High School (because he already knew everything), Don entered the workforce. He enjoyed working up in the bush at camp 402 up on the Manitou and also working on the Hallet and tugboats bringing log booms down to the local paper mill. He spent the rest of his career working at the paper mill as a papermaker and was president of his union for many years. Don was a member of the local Legion, sportsman club and search and rescue team.
He was an avid outdoorsman enjoying all seasons whether it was spending quality time at the cabin with his family up at Wasaw Lake, his many trips up North to Hotel Sowden on the English River or a few weekend fishing trips up to Waynes World on Cedar Narrows. He always brought smiles to each and every one of us that knew him.
One of his fondest memories was an ice fishing trip that he and his buddies made to Sowden. Their trip turned into a moose rescue where they successfully saved a drowning bull moose from the English River.
His other interests included carving and woodworking making many beautiful diamond willow canes and duck decoys. He enjoyed reading, taking wildlife photos, playing cards, and watching his beloved Montreal Canadiens and Minnesota Vikings.
Don was united in marriage to Donna (Larson) on March 10th 1961 and this year they celebrated their 59th wedding anniversary. They were blessed with five wonderful children.
Don is survived by his loving wife Donna and their children Shaun Milner (Will), Heather DeGagne (Marty), Jason Baldwin (Shelley), Kyle Baldwin and Dana Lynn George (Chris)
He will be greatly missed and fondly remembered by his grandchildren James and Christa O’Neill, Taylor (Ashley) and Jordan (Danielle) DeGagne, Brayden Baldwin George, Kaitlyn Baldwin (D.J.) Jocelyn George, Rebecca Armit, Jarred Taylor, Dylan Gladu and Kyle Milner
and his precious great grandchildren Morgan, Landon and Jaxson DeGagne, Madison Costall, Mackenzie and Mason DeGagne, Arielle Andrushuk, Ryden Skirten and Aksel Bombay.
