It is with great sadness that the family of Elizabeth Bluebird announces her sudden passing on Friday September 8, 2017 in Duluth, MN.
Betty was born on February 19, 1943 in Lac La Croix First Nation to Gilbert and Ida Oshawee. She liked to attend Pow Wow’s and dance and she loved to travel. She worked as a cook for the friendship centre in Duluth as well as a custodian at the Police Station. Betty was a traditional lady who helped many people.
She leaves behind her daughter Loretta (Ted Attatise) and her children Miranda (partner Shawn Kelly, children Namia, Miigan, Talon, Kiera), Sheena Attatise (partner Bruce Yellowhead, children Brayden, Jayla, Colten, Kelania and Kariya), Jessica Attatise, Cassandra Attatise and William Attatise; son Terrance Ottertail (Diane Morrison) and his children Matthew, Adam, Colleen, Dallas, Melissa Terrance Jr., and Autumn Ottertail; Son Lawrence Ottertail (Patricia Livingston) and his children Chelsea and Edward Ottertail; son Adrian Pearson-Ottertail and his daughter Aaliyah Ottertail; son Adam Ottertail; Daughter Shannon Oberg (Nate Anderson) and her children Ken Carter and Syndra Anderson; son Greg Oberg; grandchildren Elizabeth Bluebird, Victoria LeMay, Nina LeMay, and Michael LeMay; siblings Margret Bluebird, Roseanna Oshawee (Michael Head), Eugene Oshawee (Valerie) and Francis Kavanagh (Betty); adopted brother Kenny (Shelly) LeMay as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
Betty was predeceased by her parents; husbands Leonard Bluebird and Greg Oberg Sr.; siblings Angus Oshawee Sr., Larry Oshawee, Clarence Oshawee, Marilyn Oshawee and Jane Morrison.
A traditional wake will be held on Wednesday September 13, 2017 from 1 p.m. at the Lac La Croix First Nation Gymnasium. A traditional funeral service will be held on Thursday, September 14, 2017 with Elder George Boshkaykin officiating.
The pallbearers will be Betty’ s family and friends.
