Jeannie Fiset

She was born on March 21, 1952 in Fort William, Ontario to Waino and Margret (nee DeCourt) Hamalainen. Jeannie grew up in Pigeon River, ON moving to Atikokan in 1954. She was united in marriage to Jacques Fiset on November 20, 1970 and together they settled in to raise their family. She loved taking care of her family, doting on her children, cooking, cleaning, canning and tending to their needs. She was very proud to be able to provide them with a warm, loving home. The family moved to Fort Frances in 1986. Jeannie enjoyed the outdoors, taking family trips, camping and fishing. She loved animals was the proud owner of several dogs over the years. As her health failed Jeannie joined the community of Rainycrest. She participated in as many activities as she could, enjoying her time with the residents and staff.

She leaves behind her husband Jacques of 46 years; son Jack Jr. (Angela) and their children JJ, Jaymee and Riley; daughter Jeanette Roth and her sons Dylan and Andrew; stepmother June Hamalainen and brother Eddie (Vicki) DeCourt.

She was predeceased by her grandparents Arthur and Odella DeCourt; parents Waino and Margret and son Waino.

A Celebration of Life for Jeannie will be held on Tuesday, June 20, 2017 at the Royal Canadian Legion Br. 29 starting at 1 p.m.

A private family interment will be held at a later date.
