It is with great sadness that the family of Jessica Margaret “Jessie” Friday announces her passing on Saturday, September 23, 2017 at Rainycrest Long Term Care.

Jessie was born in Namakan Lake, ON to John and Mary Swanson. She lived in Seine River First Nation all her life only moving to Rainycrest when her health would not allow her to stay home. She was united in marriage to Boudreau Friday and together they raised 10 children. Jessie loved family and was very involved in their lives. She worked as a midwife delivering 16 babies in Seine River. She was a language teacher, foster parent and worked as an education assistant at the Mine Centre School from it’s opening until her retirement in 1997. She also enjoyed beadwork and making jingle dresses.

Jessie shared special relationships with each of her 100 Grandchildren. Kokoo’s house was their favourite place to visit with her. She left a legacy of love and great memories with all of them.

She was predeceased by her parents John and Mary; husband Boudreau; daughters Charlene, Patricia and Valerie; brother Tom Kelly; sister Evelyn Johnson and son-in-law Ray McIntyre.

Jessie leaves behind her children Bernadette McIntyre, Kathy Friday, Larry Friday, Dorothy Friday (Earl Klyne), Lorraine Friday, Louise Friday, Terry Friday, and Cheryl Friday (Toby); 34 grandchildren and numerous great grandchildren and great-great grandchildren.

A traditional wake will be held on Tuesday, September 26, 2017 from 4 p.m. at the Seine River First Nation Gymnasium.

A traditional burial service will be held on Wednesday, September 27, 2017 at 10 a.m. at the Seine River First Nation Gymnasium.

The pallbearers will be family and friends. Honourary pallbearers will be her nieces and nephews and all her Grandchildren.
