
Ken was born on December 11, 1955 in Fort Frances. He had lived most of his life in the Rainy River District. He had worked as a native language instructor and had taught courses on-line with Wendy Makoons at the University of Wisconsin. He was a very traditional man who enjoyed the outdoors and was an avid fisherman and hunter.
Ken is survived by his father Bob Kabatay, and his 6 children, Terry Boshkaykin and his two children Jennessa and Brayden Friday, Denise Johnson and her children Julie, Aleiah, Clouden, Kazden, Boicen, Faron and his daughter Evangeline, Jennifer and her son Keegan, Mary Johnson, Ken Johnson Jr. and his children Mira and Arelle. Also surviving are his siblings, Dwayne Johnson, Myron Johnson, Rickie Johnson and his daughter Valentena Spoon, Ladean Johnson and her children Leon and Colleen Johnson and Shaun and Rhea Skead, Theresa Perreault and her children Gerald M., Kimberley,
Wendy and Destinee Perreault.
He was predeceased by his daughter Evangeline and his mother Frances Johnson.
A traditional service will be held on Saturday, October 2, 2010 in the morning at the Seine River First Nation Gymnasium with Elder George Boshkaykin officiating. Interment will take place in the Seine River First Nation Cemetery.
A funeral wake will be held on Friday, October 1, 2010 from 3:00 p.m. at the Seine River First Nation Gymnasium.
The active pallbearers will be Roger Whitecrow, Ryan Potson, Robin Boshkaykin, Jeff Boshkaykin, Ira Johnson, Melvin Henry and Horace Wabason Jr.
The honourary pallbearers will be Ralph Johnson, Faron Johnson, Ken Johnson Jr., Terry Boshkaykin, Darcy Whitecrow, Rick Johnson, Dwayne Johnson, Myron Johnson and Bob Kabatay
