

Mary was born on January 20, 1943 in Stanjikoming First Nation to Joseph and Roseanne Friday. She was raised in Seine River First Nation. At the age of 12 she quit school and started working at a local camp. She enjoyed creating native crafts, skinning, fishing and smoking meats. She was a loving mother and grandmother. Earlier this year Mary’s health began to fail and she had to leave Seine River and move to Rainycrest, the family is very grateful to the staff at Rainycrest as well as LaVerendrye Hospital for making her move easier and providing her with great care.
She leaves behind her daughter Laura and Kelly and granddaughter Lydia; daughter Marilyn and grandchildren Charlotte, Patrick, James, Dillon, Tyler, Myles and Kaitlyn; daughter Darlene and friend Arnold and grandchildren Julie, Shanatelle, Samantha and Tristan; son Vernon and Marcy and grandchildren Mathew, Eric, Tony, Jennifer, Jessica, Darrel, Danielle, Virgil, Lennox and Joyelle; daughter Valerie and Gilbert and grandson Chance and daughter Tracy and grandchildren Autumn and Thre; grandchildren Megan, Michelle and Michael; brother Bill (Annie) Wayash and their family.
Mary was predeceased by her husband James Menson; her parents Joseph and Roseanne Friday; daughter Priscilla and son Harry Jr.
A traditional wake was held on Sunday, January 8, 2011 at her son Vernon’s house at Seine River First Nation.
A traditional funeral service was held on Monday, January 9, 2011 at her son Vernon’s house at Seine River First Nation.
The pallbearers were Mary’s family and friends.
