

Mary was born on August 15, 1913 in Winnipeg, Manitoba to the late Stephan and Christine Burak. She moved to Fort Frances, Ontario in 1935 and had lived there since. She was a member of St. George’s Ukrainian Orthodox Church and St. Anna’s Literary Society. She loved gardening, crocheting and canning. She was a private person who was always there to help her family and nobody ever left her home hungry.
She was united in marriage on June 9, 1935 to Harry Sokil who predeceased her on April 16, 1995. She was also predeceased by her daughter Diana McBride on April 21, 2010, her parents Stephan and Christine Burak, her son-in-law Joseph Lundy in 2005, sisters Jean Zagrodnek, Pauline Spakowski, Ann Dupelech, and three granddaughters Maria, Theresa and Josephine Lundy.
Left to cherish her memory is her daughter Jeanette Lundy of Barrie, Ontario, son-in-law Michael McBride of Minneapolis, Minnesota and her four grandchildren Lisa (Joe) Cartaginesse, Christopher (Pamela) Lundy, Deanna (Bruce) Martin, all of Barrie and Shane (Kristiine) McBride of Minneapolis, Minnesota. Also surviving are six great grandchildren, Amanda and Natalie Cartaginese, Taylor and Kaitlyn Lundy, Justin and Jordan Martin, two great great grandchildren; Logan and Julia McBride, one brother William (Flo) Burak of St. Catharines, Ontario, sisters Jessie Dell and Kay Rondeau, both of Winnipeg, Manitoba as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, April 19, 2011 at 11:00 a.m. at Green Funeral
Home in Fort Frances, Ontario. Father Gene Maximiuk will officiate followed by interment in Riverview Cemetery in Fort Frances.
The pallbearers will be family members.
