

Peter Gardiman Sr. passed away on Friday, December 24, 2010 at the Atikokan General Hospital in Atikokan, Ontario.
Peter was born on January 11, 1936 in Pravisdomini, Pordenone, Italy. He came to Canada in 1954 settling in Atikokan and taking work with Steep Rock Iron Mines until its closing in 1980. He then logged in the local forest until his retirement. Peter loved the outdoors, picking pine cones, hunting and fishing. Later in life Pete became a member of the Royal Canadian Legion and went daily for a game of cards or darts. He was a highly skilled bowler (both five and ten pin) who won many tournaments and made many friends across NWO through his bowling. He was an avid gardener who could grow anything – including grapes. He also enjoyed making homemade Italian wine.
He leaves behind his children Dina Gardiman (Richard White) and Peter Gardiman Jr (Kimberly); grandchildren Kayla Gardiman, Jordan White, Judd Gardiman, Kobe Gardiman, Ava Gardiman and Isabelle White; sister Delfina Bottos (Tony); brother Gianni Gardiman as well as many nieces and nephews in Italy. He will also be missed by Renaldo and Rose Zen who were very close friends that took good care of him until the end.
Pete was predeceased by his parents Luigi and Antionetta Gardiman; sisters Vilma Turani (Enrico); and brother Severino Gardiman.
A memorial service will be held on Thursday, January 6, 2011 at 11 a.m. at the Royal Canadian Legion Br. 145 in Atikokan, Ontario with Pastor Brad Ricci officiating. A memorial service will also be held in Pordenone, Italy.
Cremation has taken place and a private family interment will take place at a later date.
