Ray Jourdain

27 febrero, 1933 – 10 febrero, 2022
Obituario de Ray Jourdain
It is with great sadness that the family of Joseph Raymond Jourdain announces his passing on Thursday, February 10, 2022 at the LaVerendrye Hospital in Fort Frances, ON.

Ray was born on February 27, 1933 in Couchiching First Nation to Sam and Maggie Jourdain. He grew up in the community. He was united in marriage to Mary Cyr November 1, 1964 and together they settled in Couchiching First Nation to start their family. Ray worked in the area most of his life; as a young man he worked for the local sawmill and guided for various camps before joining Nanicost Limited as a custodian. He was very artistically gifted, painting, carving and ceramics. He shared this gift with others through local classes. After retirement, Ray and Mary enjoyed playing Bingo and attending Powwows. Later in life, they found a community within the local gospel circles. He became a devote Christian and was an active member of the Salvation Army.

He was predeceased by his parents Sam and Maggie; wife Mary on March 14, 2019; infant son Joey; brothers Bill, Riley, Russell and Glenn Jourdain and sisters Linda (Wilf) Morrisseau and Josephine (Raymond) Bruyere; brothers-in-law Buddy Paul Cyr and Dennis Perreault; sister-in-law Mabel Cyr and niece Jacqueline Cyr (Nelson).

He will be greatly missed by his children Carolyn Jourdain, Gary Jourdain and Brad Jourdain (Rhonda) all of Couchiching First Nation; grandchildren Dahlia, Mikayla and Lily Jourdain of Fort Frances and Jenna Mose of Couchiching First Nation; sisters Judy Perrault and Verna Raffen; sister-in-law Genevieve Jourdain and brothers-in-law Norman (Gladys) Cyr and Wilfred (Dorothy) Cyr.

He will also be missed by his special friends Tabea, Barb and the nurses that worked with him and his little dog Chi Chi.

Cremation has taken place and a celebration of life will be held at a later date when friends and family can gather.

If friends so desire in memoriam donations may be made to the Salvation Army, 242 Scott Street, Fort Frances, ON, P9A 1H1.
