Stanley Charles William Payne, 88 passed away on Tuesday, July 28, 2020. He was born on August 29, 1931 to Norman and Anabel Payne, and spent most of his life in Fort Frances. He had a wonderful childhood, spending his time on Rainy Lake whenever he could. He married the love of his life, Joan(Krukoski) just before he turned 21, and they brought two daughters into the world. Stanley was predeceased by his wife Joan, and his oldest daughter Katheren, and is survived by his daughter Beverly(David) Boles, grandchildren David(Angelle), Darren, Ashley(Brent), Chere, Tiprene and Serena, and their families, as well as nieces and nephews. He loved to see his great grandson, Spencer when he was able to visit him in Rainycrest.

As a young man, Stan began his working career helping to build the old Rainycrest building. After that, the paper mill was his working home for many years until he and Joan decided to buy North Albany Lodge, a tourist resort in Northern Ontario. After a number of years in the tourist industry, they decided it was time to retire.

Stand and Joan bought property in Burris, not to far from where Stan spent summers with his grandparents working on the farm. There they built Joan's dream home, and spent many years enjoying the country life. After Joan's passing, Stan lived with his daughter and son-in-law for almost ten years, enjoying many adventures. They lived in Thunder Bay for five years, then Stan lived with Dave and Bev in Playa del Carmen, Mexico for three years, until his move to Rainycrest, where he resided at the time of his passing. The staff at Rainycrest took such good care of Stan, and his family would like to extend a sincere thank you to all those involved in his care. You all did an exceptional job.

Stan was a fun loving, happy person, but also a very spiritual person. he took great comfort in the hope from the scriptures after the death of Joan, and loved to share what he had learned with others until such time as his memory began to fade.

We will have wonderful memories of Stan!
