Obituario de Steve Paul Johnson
Nenaakamiganong

Eagle Clan

It is with great sadness that the family of Steve Johnson announces his passing on Sunday January 10, 2021 at the LaVerendrye General Hospital in Fort Frances, ON.

Steve was born on March 12, 1950 in Emo, ON to George Johnson and Mabel Sears. He grew up around Clearwater Lake, first at 17B and then later at Naicatchewenin First Nation. As a young man he worked as a logger and fishing guide. He loved to be in the outdoors, especially on the lake. Steve started working in Child Welfare as a young man and worked with the youth for over 25 years. It was during this time that he utilized his gift as a Native Healer, helping people across Canada and the United States. As his health failed and he was not able to give to his community his focus turned to spending time with his children and grandchildren. He was very proud of each of them.

He leaves behind his wife Jocelyn; children Mary, Steve Jr., Leonard, Raylene (Kaleb) and Wade (Kristen); grandchildren Connor, Anna, Andrew, Stevie, Beckhym, Kynsleigh and Audi; sisters Janice, Gloria, Elise (David); sister-in-law Janice Carmondy; mother-in-law Myrtle; sisters-in-law Candy (Jeff), Monique; brothers-in-law Vince and Guy; adopted brothers by ceremony Larry Jourdain, Rick Comeau, Leon Valliere and George Johnson as well as numerous nieces, nephews and extended family.

Steve was predeceased by his parents George Johnson and Mabel Smith; daughter Megan; siblings Gladys, Elvis, Angie, Rose, Viola and a twin brother shortly after birth as well as a large extended family of in-laws and nephews.

Due to COVID 19 Restrictions a private family traditional wake was held on Wednesday January 13, 2021 and a traditional ceremony was held on Thursday January 14, 2021 at the Naicatchewenin First Nation Gymnasium.

The pallbearers were close friends of the family.
