

It is with great sadness that the family of William John (Bill) Lamb of 86 years, announces his passing on Saturday, May 28, 2011 at LaVerendrye General Hospital in Fort Frances.
He was born in Fort Frances to William John and Laura Lamb on October 10, 1924. He attended public and high school in Fort Frances, and was later employed as a Machinist at the Fort Frances Paper Mill until his retirement in January, 1987. On February 3, 1956, he married Arlene Carlson and together they raised their four children. Bill’s passion was providing for his wife and family and watching the grandchildren as they came along. For many years, he enjoyed playing his accordian at dances in Fort Frances and throughout the district. He treasured many fond memories with family and friends while socializing around the campfire, while camping, fishing and family vacations. He also enjoyed his hobby of building model airplanes and repairing things.
With fond memories, he is survived by his wife, Arlene; son, William John (Tammy) of Fort Frances; daughters, Sharlene (John) of Thunder Bay, Shelley (Peter) of London, ON., and Kari (Larry) of Dryden; six grandchildren, Christina (Ian) of Thunder Bay, Timothy (Erin) of Edmonton, Scott of Edmonton, Jeffery of London, ON., and Joshua and Ashley of Dryden; three great grandchildren, Chloe of Edmonton, and Gavin and Kingston of Thunder Bay.
He is also survived by his brother, James (Maxine) Lamb of Winnipeg, his sister, Alice Gilbert of Thunder Bay; his brother-in-law, Kenneth Carlson and his family; and many nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by his parents, William and Laura Lamb; his sister, Laurabelle Hampshire of Brantford, ON., as well as his nephews, Robert Gilbert, Earl Lamb, and Neal Hampshire and his mother-in-law, Edla Orwick.
According to his wishes, a family funeral service will be held at Green Funeral Home in Fort Frances, Ontario. Reverend Barbara Miller will officiate with interment in Riverview Cemetery in Fort Frances, Ontario.
Active pallbearers will be his sons-in-law, John Fisher, Peter White, Larry Shine, and grandsons, Scott Lamb, Jeffery White and Joshua Shine.
Honourary pallbearers will be his grandchildren, Timothy Lamb, Christina Lamb-Fisher, Ashley Shine, and great grandchildren, -Chloe Lamb, Gavin Aylward and Kingston Aylward.
