

Albert Emerson Richards, III , “Dick”(79) beloved father, husband, brother, grandfather and friend passed away on Dec.9, 2025.. He was born in Baltimore,MD on Sept. 27, 1946. His parents were Albert,Jr. and Grace Beverly. He grew up in Baltimore and Kensington,Md. He was a gifted athlete playing football, basketball and baseball at Albert Einstein High School in Kensington,Md. He was in the inaugural class to be inducted into his high school’s Athletic Hall of Fame alongside his two lifelong friends ,since the fifth grade, John Gossage and Robert Westwood. He then received a baseball scholarship to the University of Maryland where he met the love of his life, Joan. She was there playing field hockey. He played with his great friends Ed Compton,Phil Corddry, Tommy Hopkins and Bob Stropp. They remained friends their whole lives. In 1967 he was drafted to play professional baseball for the Washington Senators. His grandson Christian is following in his grandfather’s footsteps and is playing a fabulous shortstop at Western High in Davie. Joan and Dick lived in New Jersey for a few years and then moved to Florida in 1976 to take advantage of the beautiful weather they had gotten used to when they went to spring training. There, they raised three wonderful children Albert,IV (Adis),William(Natalie) and Elizabeth(Cesar). He had nine grand chldren, Riley, Albert V, Christian, Cameron, Eve, Ryan ,Matthew ,Zach, and Zoe. After he finished playing baseball he embarked on a career in insurance, rising to become a Vice President at John Alden Life and American Bankers. He is survived by his siblings Kimberly( Michael), Kathy(Steve) Robert(Barbara Lee) and Michael(Betty) .His sister Sunny pre-deceased him.. A special thanks to his brother Bob who was devoted to him and was there all the time during his recent illnesses as well as his whole life. He and Joan loved to go to Las Vegas. He won a slot tournament and was able to stay at the Venetian Hotel for free where he loved to play craps with his buddy David "Red" Pahl. His family was his world.
