Alex John Serrano, 44, passed away unexpectedly while jogging, doing something that reflected his lifelong love for health, sports, and disciplined living. His loss leaves a deep ache in the hearts of his family, friends, and all those who were shaped by his steady presence.
Alex was born in Missouri to Juan and Eva Serrano, the youngest of three children and the only son carrying forward the Serrano lineage. From a young age he carried a gentle spirit—quiet, humble, and deeply rooted in his love for God and family. Growing up under the guidance of a military father and strong spiritual principles, he became a man defined by devotion and purpose.
His passion for health and athletics naturally blossomed into his calling as both a nurse practitioner and a coach. Whether he was caring for patients or motivating youth, Alex offered more than knowledge—he offered encouragement, compassion, and the kind of words that lifted people when they needed it most. His hugs were legendary: warm, enveloping, and steadying, as if he could press reassurance directly into a person’s heart.
Alex is survived by his parents, his spouse, Melissa; and their three children—Jeremiah, Roman, and Kaia. He also leaves behind his sisters, Melissa and Vanessa, who will forever carry his memory in the rhythms of everyday life. Those who knew him best will miss his kindness, his humor, and the quiet strength he brought into every room.
His memory will continue to inspire all who loved him.
A memorial service will be held on Sunday, November 23, at 11:00 a.m. at Forest Lawn Funeral Home in Fort Lauderdale.
