Audrey Ann Bradley, age 68, passed away on January 23, 2024, at Broward Health Medical Center, after a brief and courageous battle with cancer. She was the wife of her teenage love Steve Bradley Sr to whom she was married for 38 years. She was the loving mother of three children—Steve Jr, Michelle, and Kareem. Audrey was the daughter of Nelson and Elise Young, deceased.
Audrey was born in Belize and grew up in the city throughout her youth. After graduating high school, she migrated to the United States where she spent some time living in California, before moving to Brooklyn. She and Steve continued their romance and got married in Brooklyn where she dedicated her time raising her family. Audrey had a special love for children and as an entrepreneur, she built and operated a successful day-care service in her community. Audrey was also a skilled hairdresser.
After several years living in Brooklyn, Audrey and Steve made the decision to move to a warmer climate, settling in Fort Lauderdale, Florida. Undoubtedly, this was the ideal place for Audrey, given her passion for spontaneously booking trips to go camping, fishing and summer getaways. Audrey was the planner. As a result, she was always looking to book the next family vacation at their time-share. Audrey loved and enjoyed her grandchildren, so it did not take much for her to pack that RV and camping gear, which provided the perfect opportunities to build lasting memories with them.
Because of the tropical nature of the weather in Florida, Audrey spent a lot of time planting and harvesting her favorite fruits and vegetables, for example mango, coconut, golden plums, papaya, tomatoes. She was also brave and fearless, especially during hurricane season, she always led the pack to prepare her family for weathering the storms. This showed that outdoorsy lifestyle of hers, always ready to enjoy nature but understanding its dangers as well. Audrey loved cooking and entertaining with friends. She enjoyed dancing and music (especially the oldies – The O ’Jays and Eddie Levert were top favorites).
We are so happy to have had Audrey in our lives. The many life lessons she taught us, the joy she brought to our lives, the memories she has left us will live on in our hearts.
Audrey is survived by her husband, her three children, grandchildren (Cheyenne, Oniyx, Jaiyrd, Carter, Orion and Odin), sisters and brothers (Glenda, Yvonne, Elise, Florine, Glenford, Nelson, Kevin and David) and many nieces and nephews.
Our family gratefully acknowledge everyone standing with us through this grieving process for our dearest Audrey. May she rest in Peace and God’s blessings for all our families and friends.
It can be a great comfort to a grieving person or family to hear that others thought highly of their loved one, too.
