

Donna Wagner, age 72 of Fort Lauderdale, FL passed away on August 29, 2025. Born on January 31, 1953, in Jersey City, NJ, Donna is lovingly remembered by her three children, Dawn (Jack), Robert (Kimberly) and Kim (Pete); her beloved grandchildren, Christopher, Elle and Wyatt; and her husband of 20 years Wayne Alonso. In addition to her loving family, she counted among her survivors many lifelong dear friends.
She was preceded in death by her beloved parents, Matthew Escalada and Gladys Mathias; and her first husband Robert Wagner, devoted father of her children.
Donna grew up in Jersey City, NJ and graduated from Dickinson High School. As a young adult she worked as an usher at Lincoln Center in NYC where her father also worked. She met her first husband Robert (Bob) along with other lifelong friends at the Jersey Shore. Donna and Bob married in 1974. Shortly after having their first child, they moved to Hopatcong, NJ. Lake Hopatcong was where they decided to raise their family. Donna and Bob ran their own businesses, Professional Subpoena Services, the marina Lake Hopatcong Water Sports and the bar Brass Tacks. They enjoyed raising their children, going on family vacations and going to the shore.
Donna faced immense challenges when her first husband, Bob, was diagnosed with a terminal illness. Donna stood strong for their children and eventually discovered new happiness with Wayne. Donna and Wayne married in 2005. They continued to live in Lake Hopatcong. They enjoyed going for walks in the beautiful woods of northern NJ with their beloved dog Halo. They eventually decided to get away from the cold and move to Fort Lauderdale, FL.
Donna possessed a fierce, strong spirit—she stood her ground without hesitation never allowing anyone to push her around. Donna enjoyed the beach, that was her calming place. She delighted in discovering great finds in thrift stores. She had a knack for interior decorating on a dime. She regularly engaged in gym classes to keep herself fit. Donna and Wayne took great pleasure in cooking delicious dishes together.
Donna’s loved ones describe her as beautiful and kind, with a good heart, a sharp wit, and a creative spirit. Her family and friends looked back on their shared escapades with affection, knowing each had added joy and meaning to their lives.
