She worked at different schools, and in the community helping children who were not as fortunate as others in different capacities before migrating to the United States. She wasted no time in equipping herself by going back to school and we jokingly called her: the book worm”
She reminded us it was Henry Wadsworth Longfellow’s who said, “The heights by great men reached and kept were not attained in sudden flight but, they while their companions slept, they were toiling upwards in the night.”

She spent many hours after school assisting slower learners which in the long run was beneficial to her school.
In her young years she was an active member in the Church of God of Prophecy. She was a Sunday School teacher, and her class grew, which helped produced a group of active of young worshippers in the church. Doretta believed that no matter where one attend church, worshipping God was most important, A friendly person she was.
Doretta was a Christian. She would have it no other way than to follow the Godly teachings of our parents. While in Fort Lauderdale, she attended The Faith Center Ministries and got married to her late husband Linford Wisdom. She was a part of the Nursing Home Ministry team and enjoyed visiting and ministering to the seniors.
After years of hard work, Doretta retired and planned to enjoy her retirement in her home in Port Saint Lucie, Fl. She was incredibly supportive of the Port Saint Lucie Church of God and All Nations Church. Doretta enjoyed worshipping and pushed herself to make a joyful noise unto the Lord, even if she was out of sync with her timbal
She sought to be more involved in church- work but her health declined. She loved the book of Psalms, along with her favorite scriptures Jeremiah 29 :11; Joshua 1:8.
Left to cherish her memories are her four sisters, Lena (England) Beverlyn, Eldit, Brizella and their families. Three brothers, Balfour (England) Granville, Martin, and their families, nieces, and nephews. She will be missed by many including those whose lives she touched over the years. The Lord has relieved her from life’s journey, and she is in a better place.
