

Emily is survived by her father, Vincent J. Botta (Kathy Guida) of Ocala, FL; her brother, Anthony V. Botta (Kate Quinton) of Fort Myers, FL; and the love of her life, Jamel Morris, of Fort Lauderdale, FL. Emily was predeceased by her mother, Debra A. Botta (Ed Hengtgen). Emily is also survived by Uncles Joseph Botta (Gina), Gus Botta, Greg Moffitt, and Jack Stevison, her stepbrother Whitman Hengtgen and dear friend Julie Stones, many cousins and friends (Termites!).
Emily graduated from Cardinal Gibbons High School in Fort Lauderdale where she lettered as a manager of the State Championship Wrestling Team, as well as participated in Cross Country and Track. Community service was integral to who she was, finishing first in her graduating class with over 1000 service hours.
Emily earned both her Bachelor's and Master's degree in English Education from Florida State University. She was honored with the FSU College of Education's Humanitarian of the Year Award in consecutive years for her work with the Alpha Tau Omega fraternity.
Emily completed volunteer missions to Peru, Europe, Costa Rica and Southeast Asia during her high school and college years.
She loved children, sunrises at the beach and running. Her positive spirit and cheerfulness was infectious and she was adored by all who knew her. The doctors, nurses, and staff who attended to Emily at Memorial Hospital “3West” will be in the family’s hearts and minds forever thanks to their collective professionalism and the personal attention and care they provided to Emily.
Funeral services will be held June 12, 2026 at 11:00am at St. Coleman’s Catholic Church, 1200 S. Federal Hwy, Pompano Beach, FL, with a reception afterwards at the Oceanic at Pompano Beach Pier, in Pompano Beach, FL.
