
Edelstein, Fred passed away Thursday September 9, 2021. He was born May 16th, 1935 in Pittsburgh, PA. He was a graduate from Taylor Allderdice in 1953. He met the love of his life Tema Weiss, and they married September 6, 1959.
He attended University of Pittsburgh (PITT) where he was a member of Pi Lambda Phi fraternity. He transferred to NYU before being drafted into the Army as private first class, where he was a photographer.
In 1971, he and Tema relocated the family from Pittsburgh to Florida because he vowed to “never shovel another flake of snow”
“It’s not the years in your life but the life in your years” was a motto Fred lived by. He lived every day to its fullest. He loved his weekly Golf and Poker games with his buddies and the Cruises and Traveling he did with his friends. He adored his family and cherished spending time with all of them.
He is survived by his wife of 62 years Tema, three children Stacy Weinstein, Ricky (Julie) Edelstein, Pam (Eddie) Gonzalez and seven grandchildren; Stephanie and Seth Weinstein, Jake, Nick and Sam Edelstein, and Jayden and Lexi Gonzalez.
Services will be held Friday October 1, 2021 at 2:30pm South Florida VA National Cemetery, 6501 S. State Road 7 Lake Worth, Florida.
A celebration of his life will follow the services, time and place TBD.
Donations can be made to his favorite charities: St Jude’s Children’s research hospital or the Veteran Wounded Warriors project in Fred’s memory.
